| Remove/install | |||
| 1 | Move steering wheel forward and upward. | ||
| 2 | Remove trim at bottom for instrument panel on driver's side. | AR68.10-P-1501S | |
| 3 | Turn steering wheel until screw (1) is accessible. | ||
| 4 | Remove screw (1). | ||

| 5 | Remove steering column tube switch module. | AR54.25-P-2812S | |
| 6 | Remove knee airbag on driver's side. | AR91.60-P-0200S | |
| 7 | Release and disconnect electrical connectors (4) from steering column tube (3). | ||
| 8 | Detach steering shaft (2) from steering column tube (3). | ||
| 9 | Secure steering column tube (3) against falling down. | ||
| 10 | Unscrew screws (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d). | Screws (5a, 5b, 5c, 5d) must be tightened in the given sequence. |

| 11 | Extend steering column tube (3) backward out of crossmember (arrows) and remove downward. | Protect steering column adjustment motors against side forces and impacts. Otherwise, the steering column adjustment motors may be damaged. Carefully remove and insert steering column tube (3). Otherwise, trim parts and electric lines may be damaged. |

| 12 | Check boot of steering shaft (2) for damage. | If there is a problem, ↓ Replace boot of steering shaft (2). |

| 13 | Install in the reverse order. | ||
| 14 | Enter identification number of new steering column tube (3) into online vehicle data card via Vehicle Documentation (VeDoc). | If steering column tube (3) has been replaced. |
