Model All (Light transporter)

Overview

This document contains information on:

General

The network architecture connects all the participating systems, control elements, control units and indicators in the vehicle with each other.

Function

The operating concept is based on several levels of increasing information density:

Further components of the operating concept can be:

Control and display concept

The aim of the control and display concept is to provide a high degree of user friendliness.

This aim is achieved by:

Another aspect of the user-friendly interaction between man and machine is the graphic display of the user interfaces. Two independent color displays are used for this.

Information is conveyed in an understandable way by means of visualizations, animations and sound concepts. Animated contents help the user to understand the consequences of his actions.

Sound concepts allow the driver to recognize the purpose of the action from its acoustics. This draws the driver's attention to the vehicle's surroundings, makes them aware of system messages, or prompts them to confirm a control action.

A variety of functions can be operated from various control points. The integration of mobile devices means that external applications, too, can be included in the operating concept. However, some functions, e.g. voice control, are unavailable if, for example, a smartphone is integrated.

All settings can also be personalized. The user interface helps with decision making and proposes intelligent suggestions for this. This is based on user-specific settings and driving habits, e.g. radio stations and tone settings or the time and location.

Depending on the model, a special mode enables the information volume to be reduced and only the relevant information displayed during long journeys or at night.

Instrument cluster

The instrument cluster (3) provides the driver with information relevant to driving, e.g. fuel supply, engine speed and coolant temperature, in a clearly arranged layout. It also informs him about the current condition of the systems installed in vehicle. System actions, recommendations and malfunctions are communicated to the driver in the form of text messages.

The content displayed can sometimes be freely configurable in the vehicle. The display in the instrument cluster (3) is operated with the left finger navigation pad on the multifunction steering wheel (1). The user can choose between various different visual styles depending on mood or to match the interior.

In full screen mode for navigation, driver assistance and trip data, the most important contents are already shown in a combined summary.

Audio/COMAND display control unit

The Audio/COMAND display control unit (4) shows information from the multimedia system and menu for setting various systems in the vehicle. The user interface of the Audio/COMAND display control unit (4) is touch-sensitive.

The multimedia system and various system settings in the vehicle can be operated using the following control elements:
