Standing/parking lights, general
The standing lights/parking lights actuation is used to mark the parked vehicle in poor visibility.
The standing/parking lights actuation is deactivated depending on the energy status at "Circuit 15R OFF".
The standing/parking lights actuation is comprised of the following partial functions:
- Standing lamp actuation function sequence
- Function sequence for lights on reminder warning
- Parking lights actuation function sequence
Standing lamp actuation function sequence
On vehicles without CODE LG2 (LED Intelligent Light System)
By turning the illumination switch (S1/2) (model 447.8, 448.8) or illumination switch (S1) (model 447.6/7. 448.7) to the standing light position, the standing lights actuation is activated.
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1) directly reads in the status of the illumination switch and actuates the following lamps:
- Via the left front lamp unit (E1), the left daytime running light (E1e7). The standing light function is assumed by the daytime running lights.
- Via the right front lamp unit (E2), the right daytime running light (E2e7) The standing light function is assumed by the daytime running lights.
- Model 447.8, model 448.8
Via interior CAN (CAN B), electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73), gateway for user interface CAN (N93/4), user interface CAN (CAN HMI) and instrument cluster (IC) control unit (A1/1), it actuates the standing lights indicator lamp (A1/1e31)

At "Circuit 15R OFF" status the standing lights indicator lamp is deactivated after a specific period even if the function is active.
- Via the left rear lamp unit (E3), the left taillight and parking light (E3e2)
- Via the right rear lamp unit (E4), the right taillight and right parking light (E4e2)
- The left license plate lamp (E19/1) and the right license plate lamp (E19/2) (model 447.8, 448 with code W64 (Rear window with big flip window) or code W65 (Liftgate)) or (model 447.6/7, model 448.7 with code W65 (Liftgate))
- The left rear-end door license plate lamp (E19/3) and right rear-end door license plate lamp (E19/4) (model 447.6/7 with code W50 (Two-wing rear-end door, 180 degrees without window) or code W54 (Two-wing rear-end door, 270 degrees))
On vehicles with CODE LG2 (LED Intelligent Light System)
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly reads in the status of the illumination switch and actuates the following lamps and components:
- Via interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) and front end CAN (CAN G), the left headlamp control unit (E1/1n9)
- The left headlamp control unit forwards the "Standing light" request via left headlamp LIN (LIN G1) to the left front actuation module, LED exterior lighting (E1/1n7), which then actuates the left parking/standing/daytime running light (E1/1e13) directly.
- Via interior CAN, electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) and front end CAN, the right front actuation module (E2/1 n9)
- The right front actuation module forwards the "Standing light" request via right headlamp LIN (LIN G2) to the right front actuation module, LED exterior lighting (E2/1 n7), which then actuates the right parking/standing/daytime running light (E2/1e13) directly.
The left headlamp control unit and the left front actuation module, LED exterior lighting are mounted on the left front LED lamp unit (E1/1).
The right headlamp control unit and the right front actuation module, LED exterior lighting are mounted on the right front LED lamp unit (E2/1).

At "Circuit 15R OFF" status the standing lights indicator lamp is deactivated after a specific period even if the function is active.
- Via the left rear LED lamp unit (E3/1), the left LED taillight (E3/1e2)
- Via the right rear LED lamp unit (E4/1), the right LED taillight (E4/1e2)
- The left license plate lamp and the right license plate lamp (model 447.8, model 448 with code W64 (Rear window with big flip window) or code W65 (Liftgate)) or (model 447.6/7, model 448.7 with code W65 (Liftgate))
Independent of the lighting equipment on vehicles with CODE Q50 (Trailer hitch with removable ball head) or CODE Q22 (Trailer hitch with non-removable ball head)
If the standing lights actuation is activated, the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit sends the "Standing light" request via interior CAN to the trailer recognition (AAG) control unit (N28/1), which actuates the following components of the exterior lights on the trailer via the 13-pin trailer socket (X58):
- Taillights and parking lights
- License plate lights
If the interior CAN is in "bus idle", the standing lights actuation status is stored in the control units involved until a deactivation is requested by the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
Additional function requirements for lights on reminder
- Standing lamps "ON"
- Driver door "open"
- "Circuit 15C OFF"
Function sequence for lights on reminder warning
The logic for requesting the lights on reminder function is stored in the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit receives the status of the left front door control unit (N69/3) and the status of circuit 15 from the electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit via interior CAN and uses it to generate a request to output the light warning function.
It sends the "Acoustic warning" and "Instrument cluster message" request:
- Model 447.8, model 448.8
Via interior CAN, electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit, gateway for user interface CAN and user interface CAN to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit
- MODEL 447.6/7, MODEL 448.7
Via interior CAN to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit
The instrument cluster (IC [KI]) control unit then actuates the instrument cluster speaker (H4/61) and the multifunction display (A1/1p13) directly. The message "Switch off lights" is shown in the multifunction display.
Additional function requirements for parking lights actuation
- "Circuit 15C OFF"
The circuit 15 status is sent by the electronic ignition lock control unit (EZS) over the interior CAN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
Parking lights actuation function sequence
On vehicles without CODE LG2 (LED Intelligent Light System):
By turning the illumination switch to the left parking light position or the right parking light position, the parking lights actuation is activated for the corresponding side of vehicle.
Left parking light:
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly reads in the status of the illumination switch and actuates the following components and lamps:
- Via the left front lamp unit, the left daytime running light. The parking light function is assumed by the daytime running lights.
- Via the left rear lamp unit, it actuates the left taillight and parking light
Right parking light:
- Via the right front lamp unit, the right daytime running light. The parking light function is assumed by the daytime running lights.
- Via the right rear lamp unit, it actuates the right taillight and parking light On vehicles with CODE LG2 (LED Intelligent Light System):
By turning the illumination switch to the left parking light position or the right parking light position, the parking lights actuation is activated for the corresponding side of vehicle.

- Via interior CAN, electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit, front end CAN to the left headlamp control unit.
- The left headlamp control unit forwards the request via left headlamp LIN to the left front actuation module, LED exterior lighting, which then actuates the left parking/standing/daytime running light directly.
- Via the left rear LED lamp unit, the left LED taillight.
Right parking light:
The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly reads in the status of the illumination switch and sends the request:
- Via interior CAN, electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit, front end CAN to the right headlamp control unit.
- The right headlamp control unit forwards the request via right headlamp LIN to the right front actuation module, LED exterior lighting which then actuates the right parking/standing/daytime running light directly.
- Via the right rear LED lamp unit, the right LED taillight.
Independent of the lighting equipment on vehicles with CODE Q50 (Trailer hitch with removable ball head) or CODE Q22 (Trailer hitch with non-removable ball head)
When the left or right parking lights actuation is activated, the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit also sends the "Parking lights" request via interior CAN to the trailer recognition (AAG) control unit, which then actuates the left taillight or the right taillight on the trailer via the 13-pin trailer socket.
If the interior CAN is in "bus idle", the parking lights actuation status is stored in the control units involved until a deactivation is requested by the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.
