The electronic ignition lock (EZS) control unit (N73) sends the status of circuit 15 via the interior CAN (CAN B) to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit (N10/1).

The illumination switch (S1) sends the "Low beams" status to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.

The fog light function is generated by the left front LED lamp unit (E1/1) and the right front LED lamp unit (E2/1). No separate front fog lamps are installed.

Front fog lamp actuation, general on model 447.6/7 with code L16 (Halogen front fog lamp)

Front fog lamps in combination with the low beams result in a wider illumination in the close range.

Function sequence for front fog lamp actuation on model 447.6/7 with code L16 (Halogen front fog lamp)

Pressing the front fog lamp button (S1s11) sends a "Front fog lamp" request to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit. It then directly actuates the left front fog lamp (E5/1) and the right front fog lamp (E5/2).

The active front fog lamp actuation is indicated visually to the driver. The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit sends the "Front fog lamp indicator lamp" request via interior CAN to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit (A1/1), which then directly actuates the front fog lamp indicator lamp (A1/1e57).

Rear fog light actuation, general

The rear fog light actuation enables the rear area of the vehicle to be identified in poor weather conditions.

Rear fog light actuation function sequence

On model 447.6/7, model 448.7:

Pressing the rear fog light button (S1s10) sends a "Rear fog light" request to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.

On model 447.8, model 448.8:

Pressing the rear fog light button (S1/2s10) sends a "Rear fog light" request to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.

The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit also sends the "Rear fog light" request via interior CAN to the trailer recognition control unit (AAG) (N28/1) (with CODE Q50 (Trailer hitch with removable ball head) or CODE Q22 (Trailer hitch with non-removable ball head)).

The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly sends the "Rear fog light" request to the left rear lamp unit (E3). The left rear lamp unit then directly actuates the left rear fog light (E3e5).

The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly sends the "Rear fog light" request to the right rear lamp unit (E4). The right rear lamp unit then directly actuates the right rear fog light (E4e5).

The trailer recognition control unit (AAG) (with CODE Q50 (Trailer hitch with removable ball head) or CODE Q22 (Trailer hitch with non-removable ball head)) actuates the corresponding rear fog light, if available, on the trailer via the 13-pin trailer socket (X58).

The rear fog light on the vehicle is not actuated during trailer operation. To do so, the trailer recognition control unit (AAG) sends the corresponding status with the information "Trailer recognition, status" via interior CAN to the signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit.

The active rear fog light actuation is indicated visually to the driver. The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit sends the "Rear fog light indicator lamp" request via interior CAN to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit, which then directly actuates the rear fog light indicator lamp (A1/1e47).

Function sequence for rear fog light actuation with CODE LG2 (LED Intelligent Light System):

The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly sends the "Rear fog light" actuation to the left rear LED lamp unit (E3/1), which then directly actuates the left rear fog light (E3/1e5).

The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit directly sends the "Rear fog light" actuation to the right rear LED lamp unit (E4/1), which then directly actuates the right rear fog light (E4/1e5).

The active rear fog light actuation is indicated visually to the driver. The signal acquisition and actuation module (SAM) control unit sends the "Rear fog light indicator lamp" request via interior CAN, gateway for user interface CAN (N93/4) and user interface CAN (CAN HMI) to the instrument cluster (IC) control unit, which then directly actuates the rear fog light indicator lamp.
