| Remove/install | |||
| 1 | Remove liftgate trim. | AR72.20-P-6631FRX | |
| 2 | Mechanically lock rotary tumbler on trunk lid/liftgate lock (A85/5) with a suitable tool. | Before adjusting the liftgate (1), the lock must be unlocked. Otherwise, the trunk lid/liftgate lock (A85/5) may be damaged during closing. |

| 3 | Detach feed-through grommets (3) from the liftgate (1). | ||
| 4 | Unclip the brackets of the feed-through grommets (3). | Insert brackets into the feed-through grommets (3) first. Otherwise, leak tightness is not ensured. |

| 5 | Unscrew nut from the right liftgate ground point (W8/2). | *BA00.19-P-1040-02D | |
| 6 | Disconnect all electrical connectors from the right electrical wiring harness (5) on the liftgate (1). | ||
| 7 | Mark installation position of the right electrical wiring harness (5) and remove the associated electrical connectors from the liftgate (1). | Replace damaged fasteners. A loose right electrical wiring harness (5) can cause noises. |

| 8 | Pull right electrical wiring harness (5) out of the liftgate (1). | ||
| 9 | Disconnect all electrical connectors from the left electrical wiring harness (6) on the liftgate (1). | ||
| 10 | Mark installation position of the left electrical wiring harness (6) and remove associated electrical connectors from the liftgate (1). | Replace damaged fasteners. A loose left electrical wiring harness (6) can cause noises. |

| 11 | Pull left electrical wiring harness (6) out of liftgate (1). | ||
| 12 | Place rag below the jacking points of the liftgate (1) to the bodyshell. | ||
| 13 | Loosen bolts (2). | ||
| 14 | Remove electrical liftgate drive unit. | AR72.29-P-5590FRX | |
| 15 | Remove screws (2) and remove liftgate (1). | ||

| 16 | Install in the reverse order. | ||
