| 4 | Unclip electrical line (14) from suspension strut (2). | ||

| 5.2 | Remove guide (3) from suspension strut (2) and place to one side with connected lines. | Model 257 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) except code M005 (Vehicles with 4MATIC/all-wheel drive) |

| 6 | Unhook brake hose (4) from holders at suspension strut (2). | ||
| 7 | Remove suspension strut (2) from spring link (5). | Bolt (6) must be inserted from the rear towards the front. Otherwise the brake or the rim may be damaged. |

| 8 | Secure steering knuckle (7) against folding down. | ||
| 9 | Remove upper transverse control arm (8) from steering knuckle (7). | Counterhold the ball head and do not use an impact wrench/driver. Otherwise, the ball head or steering knuckle (7) will be damaged. |

When extending suspension strut (2), do not tension the brake hose (4). Otherwise the brake hose (4) may be damaged. |

| 17 | Measure length of new suspension strut (2) and compare dimension with value in leaflet. | When replacing suspension strut (2). | |
