Adjust Rear Door - AR72.12-P-0650FR

WARNING Risk of injury  caused by fingers being jammed or pinched when removing, installing or aligning hoods, doors, trunk lid/rear-end door or sliding roof. No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area when the components are moving. AS00.00-Z-0011-01A
INSPECT Check     
1 Check gap dimensions at rear door (1). NOTES
Always perform adjustment work on uneven gap dimensions on upper and lower hinge leaves.
Otherwise tension and damage can occur.

REMOVING Remove     
2 Move front seat toward the front to end position.    
3 Release the upper B-pillar paneling.   AR68.30-P-4700FR
    IMPORTANT Do not remove belt end fitting.  
4 Remove insulation insert (8). IMPORTANT Insulation insert (8) is inserted into B-pillar before the nuts (7).  
5 Remove reversible belt tensioner (A76, A76/1). IMPORTANT Do not disconnect electrical connectors. AR91.40-P-1010FR
  Adjust     
6 Mark position of lock striker (4) relative to C-pillar.    
7 Remove screws (5) and remove lock striker (4).    
8 Release nuts (7) and nuts (9) on B-pillar alternately. NOTES
During adjustment procedure, ensure that only nuts (7) or nuts (9) are released.
Otherwise the paint can be damaged when the rear door (1) comes into contact with other components.
 
9 Adjust corresponding gap dimensions by moving rear door (1). NOTES
Completely move rear door (1).
Otherwise the paint can be damaged when the rear door (1) comes into contact with other components.

10 Tighten nuts (7) and nuts (9) on B-pillar. TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, hinge to B-pillar *BA72.12-P-1002-01R 
11 Release screws (10) and screws (11) on rear door (1) alternately. NOTES
During adjustment procedure, ensure that only screws (10) or screws (11) are released.
Otherwise the paint can be damaged when the rear door (1) comes into contact with other components.
 
12 By moving rear door (1), adjust transition of front door to rear door (1) and door position in a vertical direction. IMPORTANT Front door contour must be aligned with rear door (1) contour or may protrude by max. 1 mm.  
13 Tighten screws (10) and screws (11) on rear door (1). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, hinge to rear door *BA72.12-P-1001-01R 
14 Position lock striker (4) on C-pillar and screw in screws (5) all the way. IMPORTANT It should still be possible to adjust the lock striker (4).  
15 Adjust transition between rear door (1) and C-pillar by moving the lock striker (4). IMPORTANT Rear door (1) contour must be aligned with C-pillar contour or may protrude by max. 1 mm.  
16 Tighten screws (5) of lock striker (4) on C-pillar. TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, lock striker to C-pillar *BA72.12-P-1004-01R 
INSTALLING Install     
17 Repair paint damage on bolt heads of screws (10, 11).    
18 Protect rear door (1) or B-pillar (6) in the area of both hinges (2, 3) against corrosion. Wax for engine compartment (400 ml spray can) *BR00.45-Z-1018-05A 
19 Install reversible belt tensioner (A76, A76/1).   AR91.40-P-1010FR
20 Install insulation insert (8). IMPORTANT Insulation insert (8) is inserted into B-pillar before the nuts (7).  
21 Move front seat back.
