REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove spare wheel with stowage tray in load compartment. Model 167.117/154 with code 669 (Spare tire on steel rim)
Model 167.9 with code 308 (Refrigerated compartment in rear passenger compartment) with code M036 (Maybach version)

2 Remove load compartment cover. Model 167.1 with code 541 (Combined luggage cover incl. safety net)

3 Remove the partition net in the vehicle interior Model 167.1/9 with code U40 (Safety net for luggage cover)

4.1 Completely open sliding roof lining. Model 167.1/9

4.2 Completely open roller sunblind on panoramic sliding sunroof. Model 167.1/9

5 Remove overhead control panel control unit.   AR82.20-P-1000ME
6 Unclip inner cover (1) of inside rearview mirror using suitable tool (arrows A) and remove towards rear.    
7 Slide outer cover (2) of inside rearview mirror towards front out of guides (arrow B).    
8 Remove sun visors.   AR68.60-P-5480ME 
9 Remove grab handles from roof.   AR68.30-P-4330ME 
10 Detach the edge guard on the door cutouts in the area of the headliner (7).    
11 Remove A-pillar trims (3).   AR68.30-P-4050ME 
12 Remove B-pillar trims (4) at top.   AR68.30-P-4700ME 
    IMPORTANT Do not remove the door sills, paneling on the seat frame or belt end fittings. The B-pillar paneling (4) remains in the vehicle interior.  
13 Remove C-pillar trims (5). Model 167.1 AR68.30-P-4490ME

Do not remove the belt end fittings. The C-pillar paneling (5) remains in the vehicle interior.

14 Remove the D-pillar paneling (6). Model 167.1 AR68.30-P-4497ME

Do not remove the belt end fittings. The D-pillar paneling (6) remains in the vehicle interior.

15 Detach the edge guard for the tailgate opening in the area of the headliner (7).    
16 Fold in 3rd seat row rear seats. Model 167.1 with code 847 (3rd seat row)

17.1 Fold seat backrests of rear seats forward. Model 167.1

17.2 Fully lower head restraints of rear seats and move seat backrests of rear seats all the way to the rear. Model 167.9

18 Fully lower front seats and move to foremost position, move backrests of front seats towards rear.    
19 Release and disconnect electrical connector (9) at left D-pillar.    
20 Remove the cover panels for the air vents together with the headliner (7) from the air vents. Model 167.9

21 Unlock the lock for the frame (10) and detach j it from the body.    
22 Pull the headliner (7) back slightly and unhook at the holders (8). IMPORTANT Two helpers are required.  
23 Release roof lining (7) from roof. IMPORTANT Model 167.1/9 with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof/glass roof) Model 167.1/9
with code 414 (Electric sunroof, glass version
 
    The headliner (7) is hung on the sliding roof frame or panoramic sliding roof frame.
IMPORTANT Two helpers are required.
 
24 Lower the headliner (7) and remove it toward the rear from the vehicle. NOTES
Carefully handle headliner (7), do not kink and lay down on clean base.
Otherwise this could lead to damage and soiling.

25 Prepare new roof lining (7) using old roof lining (7) as template. When replacing roof lining (7).
IMPORTANT New roof linings are delivered without cutouts for any installed special equipment.
IMPORTANT Commercially available devices/tools Knife
 
26 Check dampings on the roof lining (7) for correct seating and condition. Model 167.1/9 with code 460 (Canada version)
Model 167.1/9 with code 494 (US version)
If the headliner (7) is reused.
If the insulation is not seated correctly or is damaged, replace or fasten the insulation.
 
27 Install in the reverse order.
