Remove/Install Front Axle Brake Caliper - AR42.10-P-0070MFB

WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A 
DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove brakepads (2) on front axle.   AR42.10-P-1610MFB 
2 Remove brake hose from brake caliper (3).   AR42.10-P-0013MFA 
3 Unscrew guide pins and remove brake caliper (3). SPECIAL TOOL Guide bolts Fig 2
INSPECT Check     
4 Check brake caliper (3) and dust boots of brake pistons for leak tightness and damage. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT : The new brake caliper (3) is shipped in prefilled condition and must not be drained. Otherwise the brake caliper (3) cannot be bled.
If there is a problem,

replace brake caliper (3).
 
5 Check brake disk for wear and condition. Model 118.351/353/354/651/653/654 AR42.10-P-0120MFC
    Model 177.051/053/054/151/951 AR42.10-P-0120MFA
    Model 247.651/751/753/754
If there is a problem,

Replace brake disks.
AR42.10-P-0120MFB 
      AR42.10-P-0220MFA 
6 Install in the reverse order.    
7 Bleed brake system.   AR42.10-P-0010MFA 
8 Operate brake pedal several times until the brakepads (2) make contact with the brake disks. IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.  
INSPECT Check     
9 Check and correct brake fluid level in expansion reservoir for brake fluid.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.10-P-4210D 
10 Perform brake test on test stand.    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.00-P-4290BA
