Remove/Install Radial Shaft Sealing Ring On Drive Pinion - AR33.30-P-0550XGA

	Remove
1	Put transmission into neutral position.
2	Release parking brake.
3	Remove the wheel and tire assemblies from the front axle.		AR40.10-P-1102XG
4	Remove lower center engine compartment lining.		AR61.20-P-1105XG
5	Drain oil from front axle differential (1).		AR33.25-P-0300-01XGA
6	Remove propeller shaft of front axle differential (2).		AR41.10-P-0070XGA
7	Turn joint flange (4) by hand and check end play of bearing.	The bearing must be free of play. Otherwise the bearing and the gear set in the front axle differential (1) will be damaged. If there is end play or wear debris (shavings) in the drained oil: ↓ replace front axle differential (1).	AR33.30-P-0525XGA
8	Determine and note down friction torque on joint flange of drive pinion (4).		AR35.30-P-0472-02XGA
		Determine friction value at approx. 50 rpm. Use a cordless screwdriver for the measurement. Commercially available devices/tools  Battery-operated drill Torque meter	Fig 5
9	Remove twelve-point collar nut (3).	To do so, secure retainer wrench at joint flange (4) using 2 bolts and counterhold joint flange (4) using retainer wrench. Retainer wrench	Fig 7
10	Detach joint flange (4).	Puller	Fig 3
11	Remove dust cap (5).
12	Pry radial shaft sealing ring (6) out of front axle differential (1) using a suitable tool.	Do not damage seat of radial shaft sealing ring (6) in front axle differential (1). Otherwise leaks may occur.
	Install
13	Clean sitting surface of radial shaft sealing ring (6) in front axle differential (1).	Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
14	Check sitting surface of radial shaft sealing ring (6) in front axle differential (1) for damage.	If damage is found, ↓ replace front axle differential (1).	AR33.30-P-0525XGA
15	Coat radial shaft sealing ring (6) on inner sealing lip with transmission oil.
	Universal hypoid gear oils (specification 235.7)	Do not apply any transmission oil to sitting surface and outer circumference of radial shaft sealing ring (6). Otherwise leaks may occur. Replace radial shaft sealing ring (6).	BB00.40-P-0235-07A
16	Press radial shaft sealing ring (6) into front axle differential (1) until drift rests on housing.	Drift	Fig 4
17	Install dust cap (5).
18	Attach joint flange (4) to drive pinion.		AR35.30-P-0472-02XGA

		Friction torque of bevel gear with gaskets	*BE35.30-P-1001-06A
		Drive pinion collar nut rotation angle to align the tapered rollers	*BA35.30-P-1002-06A

19	Caulk twelve-point collar nut (3).
20	Install propeller shaft of front axle differential (2).		AR41.10-P-0070XGA
