- Mount drive flange onto drive pinion.
- Position collar nut.
Replace collar nut.
Attach retainer wrench (01) to drive flange.
- Tighten collar nut to basic tightening torque
.
Remove retainer wrench (01) from drive flange.
Attach dial indicator holder and check bearing play on drive flange using
dial indicator.
If the bearing does not have zero clearance:
↓
Increase basic tightening torque of collar nut in stages
Increase basic tightening torque by a maximum of 3 stages.
Otherwise the bearing will be damaged.
Never adjust friction torque by turning back collar nut.
Otherwise the drive pinion will be damaged.
If the bearing does not have zero clearance after the 3rd stage, replace inner spacer sleeve, rear axle if necessary.
- Mark drive pinion position relative to one edge of the collar nut with a pin or scriber.
- Tighten collar nut to 1st stage
- Spin drive flange at least 30 times using cordless screwdriver: 15 times clockwise and 15 times counterclockwise.
Spinning of the drive flange is necessary to avoid incorrect measurements.
- Tighten collar nut to 2nd stage
.
Commercially available devices/tools
Torque angle gauge
- Spin drive flange at least 30 times using cordless screwdriver: 15 times clockwise and 15 times counterclockwise.
Spinning of the drive flange is necessary to avoid incorrect measurements.
- With the
torque meter (02), determine friction torque (total friction moment), using a cordless screwdriver, on drive pinion.
Never adjust friction torque by turning back collar nut.
Otherwise the drive pinion will be damaged.
If the measured value is higher or lower:
↓
Replace inner spacer sleeve, rear axle if necessary.
