Electrical Seat Adjustment (ESE) In Rear Passenger Compartment, Function - GF91.29-P-0013GW
MODEL 463
as of model year 2013
with CODE S52 (Individual seats behind driver's seat/pass. seat)
Function requirements, general
- Circuit 15R ON or run-on active
- No overvoltage or undervoltage
The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 via interior CAN to the SAM control unit.
If circuit 15R is switched off, the electric seats can still be set for t = 180 s (run-on time). If, during the run-on time, the circuits status or the door status is changed, the run-on time starts again.
Electrical seat adjustment (ESA), general
The ESA enables the electrical adjustment of the left and right rear seat. The left and the right rear seats can be adjusted as follows:
- Seat height
- Seat inclination
- Backrest angle
The ESA function comprises the following subfunctions:
- Function sequence for manual seat adjustment
- Function sequence for antilock device
Function sequence for manual seat adjustment
For manual seat adjustment, the following switches must be pressed and held until the required position is reached:
- Left rear seat adjustment switch
- Right rear seat adjustment switch
Following this, the corresponding seat adjustment motor is actuated:
- Rear seat height adjustment seat adjustment motor
- Rear seat inclination adjustment seat adjustment motor
- Rear seat backrest inclination seat adjustment motor
The SAM control unit directly actuates the circuit 15 relay in the rear fuse and relay module and thus supplies power to the rear seat adjustment switches. Upon pressing the respective rear seat adjustment switch, the power is transmitted directly to the corresponding seat adjustment motor.
Function sequence for antilock device
Since the electric seat adjustment does not have a sensor system or its own control unit, the antilock device is actuated by means of a thermal fuse in the seat adjustment motors. As a result, if the respective seat adjustment motor is blocked, it is not switched off until it exceeds a certain temperature threshold.
