Check Condition Of Elements For Shock Absorption And Springing - AP32.25-P-3255A

Model 117, 156, 176, 205, 213, 238, 242, 246, 257, 290 

DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
WARNING Risk of injury  . Moving parts can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities.
Preparatory activity
No parts of the body or limbs should be within the operating area of mechanical components when moving components. AS00.00-Z-0009-01A
1 Lift vehicle with lifting platform.    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR     AR00.60-P-1006A
INSPECT Check     
2 Check front shock absorbers for fluid loss. IMPORTANT A light oil film on the shock absorber's piston rod is acceptable.
If problems occur,

Replace front shock absorbers.

REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 238 except code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR32.25-P-1018LWO 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 238 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR32.25-P-1017LWQ 
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 257, 290 except code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR32.25-P-1018FR
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 257, 290 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL) AR32.25-P-1017FRA
3 Check rear shock absorbers for fluid loss. IMPORTANT A light oil film on the shock absorber's piston rod is acceptable.
If problems occur,

Replace rear shock absorbers.

4 Check elastomer bearings of rear shock absorbers. IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools 
Swiveling inspection mirror with lighting, comparable to inspection mirror Hazet 1977 - 1
IMPORTANT The elastomer bearings must be seated with zero clearance in the housing eye and they may not be cracked or damaged.
If problems occur,

Replace rear shock absorbers.

5 Check steel springs for correct seating and wear or fractures. Vehicle with steel springs.  
6 Check protective boots or air suspension bellows for correct seating and damage. Model 205, 213, 238 with code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi- active air suspension) Model 257, 290 with code 489 (AIR BODY CONTROL)  
  Finishing activity     
7 Lower vehicle with vehicle lift.
