DANGER Risk of fire  due to ignition of R1234yf refrigerant on hot components. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with escaped R1234yf refrigerant and when working on pressurized parts. Risk of explosion  due to formation of ignitable refrigerant/air mixtures Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated rooms. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated. REMOVING Remove     
1 Discharge air conditioning system. Model 213 with engine 256.9, 264, 274, 276.8, 654, 656

2 Remove front bumper.   AR88.20-P-2000LWE
3 Remove cold air intake(13).    
4 Remove holders (14).    
5 Remove bolts (16, 17) and remove diagonal strut (15).    
6 Remove lower air duct segment (2).    
7 Remove high-voltage battery cooler. Model 213.016/216 with engine 654 with code ME05 (Hybrid drive 85 kW-94 kW variant (incl. plug-in))

8 Remove additional radiator for low-temperature circuit. Model 213, 238 with engine 256.9

9 Release both side air duct segments (9) with extraction hooks (12) and fold to one side. NOTES
Carefully fold side air duct segments (9) to one side.
Otherwise, the condenser (1) may be damaged.
IMPORTANT When folding away side air duct segments (9), carefully push condenser (1) to rear.

10 Release and disconnect electrical connector (6). Model 213 with engine 256.9, 264, 274, 276.8, 654, 656 except code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant)

11.1 Unscrew nut (4), remove refrigerant line (5) and seal openings using suitable stop plugs. Model 213 with engine 256.9, 264, 274, 276.8, 654, 656 except code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant)

13 Release locks (10, 11) in direction of arrow and route condenser (1) downwards.    
INSTALLING Install     
14 Check the receiver drier or refrigerant reservoir for re-usability and, replace if necessary. If necessary,

15 Insert condenser (1) from below and latch into locks (10, 11). NOTES
Carefully retract condenser (1).
Otherwise, the condenser (1) or surrounding component parts may be damaged.
 
16.1 Mount refrigerant line(8) and tighten nut (7). Model 213 with engine 256.9, 264, 274, 276.8, 654, 656 except code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant)

IMPORTANT Replace seal.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut/bolt, refrigerant line to condenser

16.2 Mount upper refrigerant line onto condenser(1) and tighten bolt of refrigerant line on condenser(1). Model 213 with engine 274, 276.8, 654, 656 with code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant)
IMPORTANT Replace seal.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut/bolt, refrigerant line to condenser

17.1 Mount refrigerant line(5) and tighten nut(4). Model 213 with engine 256.9, 264, 274, 276.8, 654, 656 except code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant)

17.2 Mount lower refrigerant line onto condenser (1) and tighten bolt of refrigerant line on condenser(1). Model 213 with engine 274, 276.8, 654, 656 with code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant)
IMPORTANT Replace seal.

18 Connect electrical connector (6). Model 213 with engine 256.9, 264, 274, 276.8, 654, 656 except code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant)

19 Fold back both side air duct segments (9) and fix in place. NOTES
Carefully fix side air duct segments (9) in place.
Otherwise, the condenser (1) may be damaged.
IMPORTANT When fastening side air duct segments (9), carefully push condenser (1) to rear.
 
20 Install high-voltage battery cooler. Model 213.016/216 with engine 654 with code ME05 (Hybrid drive 85 kW-94 kW variant (incl. plug-in))

22 Install lower air duct segment (2).    
23 Insert diagonal strut (15) and tighten bolt (16). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, strut to cross member *BA62.30-P-1003-01H 
24 Tighten bolt (17). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, strut to soundproofing *BA62.30-P-1004-01H 
25 Install holders (14).    
26 Install cold air intake(13).    
27 Install front bumper.   AR88.20-P-2000LWE
28 Fill air conditioning system and inspect for leak tightness and proper operation. Model 238 with engine 256.9, 264, 274, 276.8, 642, 654, 656 AR83.30-P-1760LWO
