Remove/Install Steering Wheel Electronics - AR82.90-P-0100FRA

Model 213, 238, 257 

with code L2B (Leather luxury steering wheel) 

except code L5C (Supersport steering wheel - leather deep-embossed) 

Shown on steering wheel with code 266 (Distronic Plus transverse support (DTR+Q))

Notice Information on preventing damage to electronic components due to electrostatic discharge   AH54.00-P-0001-01A
REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove cover with multifunction steering wheel button group 1 (S163/1), multifunction steering wheel button group 2 (S163/2). NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function.

2 Release and disconnect electrical connector at steering column tube module control unit (N80).    
3 Unclip steering wheel electronics (N135). IMPORTANT If lower washers are installed, observe installation position of lower washers.  
4 Unclip hand detection system control unit (N179) from steering wheel electronics (N135), release and disconnect electrical connectors (3). Model 213, 238, 257
with code 266 (DISTRONIC PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist (DTR+Q))
with code L2B (Leather luxury steering wheel) except code L5C (Supersport steering wheel - leather deep-embossed)
 
INSTALLING Install     
5 Connect and lock electrical connectors (3) and install hand detection system control unit (N179) in steering wheel electronics (N135). Model 213, 238, 257
with code 266 (DISTRONIC PLUS with Cross-Traffic Assist (DTR+Q))
with code L2B (Leather luxury steering wheel) except code L5C (Supersport steering wheel - leather deep-embossed)
IMPORTANT Ensure that electrical connectors (3) engage correctly.
 
6 Install steering wheel electronics (N135). IMPORTANT If lower washers were installed, observe installation position of lower washers.  
7 Connect electrical connector at steering column tube module control unit (N80). IMPORTANT Ensure correct engagement of electrical connector.  
8 Install cover with multifunction steering wheel button group 1 (S163/1), multifunction steering wheel button group 2 (S163/2). NOTES
Do not crush or kink or subject electric lines to tension.
This will result in damage to the electric lines and can impair their function.

9 Connect vehicle diagnosis system and perform commissioning. When replacing steering wheel electronics (N135).

10 Perform function test of steering wheel buttons.
