Adjust Camber At Rear Axle - AR40.20-P-0202LWI

MEASURING Measure     
1 Perform initial measurement   AR40.20-P-0200LW 
REMOVING Remove     
2 Raise vehicle IMPORTANT The axles must be relieved of load. AR00.60-P-1002LWG
3 Release pressure from air springs using vehicle diagnosis system Model 205.386/387/486/487 with code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension)  
REFER TO SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEMS     AD00.00-P-2000-04B
4 Remove cover of spring link (1)    
5 Clamp rear axle spring until pressure is no longer exerted on the spring link (1) Model 205.386/387/486/487 except code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension)  
    AR32.20-P-0202-06LWI  
    IMPORTANT It is not necessary to remove the rear axle spring.

6 Remove screw (2) and adjusting plates (3) NOTES
Model 205.386/387/486/487 with code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension)
Do not compress or extend the air spring.
Otherwise the air spring will be damaged.
IMPORTANT Have an assistant secure the rear axle spring with a spring compressor or air spring to prevent it from falling.
IMPORTANT The SPECIAL TOOL screwdriver bit is to be used when a screw (2) with a multi-point socket is installed.

INSTALLING Install     
7 Insert new screw (2) and screw on new nut loosely    
8.1 Unclamp rear axle spring Model 205.386/387/486/487 except code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension)
IMPORTANT Make sure that the rear axle spring is seated correctly in the spring seats.

8.2 Build up pressure in air spring using vehicle diagnosis system Model 205.386/387/486/487 with code 489 (AIRMATIC Dual Control/semi-active air suspension)

  Adjust     
9 Select new adjusting plates (3) on the basis of the removed adjusting plates (3) and the camber deviation determined in the initial measurement Check suspension data, assign actual value to table

IMPORTANT The new adjusting plates (3) to be installed must be determined on the basis of the measured camber deviation and the adjusting plates (3) already installed using the suspension data table.
IMPORTANT All the adjusting plates (3) of one spring link (1) must have the same number.

10 Install newly determined adjusting plates (3) and tighten nut of screw (2) IMPORTANT Tighten the nut of the screw (2) in ready-to-drive condition in order to rule out stresses in the spring link (1).
IMPORTANT Make sure that the adjusting plates (3) are seated correctly and in the correct installation position.
IMPORTANT The SPECIAL TOOL screwdriver bit is to be used when a screw (2) with a multi-point socket is installed.
IMPORTANT Only tighten the nut of the screw (2) to the 1st stage of the specified tightening torque.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, spring control arm to rear axle carrier *BA35.20-P-1001-01I 
    SPECIAL TOOL Screwdriver bit Fig 2
MEASURING Measure     
11 Perform final measurement   AR40.20-P-0200LW 
INSTALLING Install     
12 Tighten nut of screw (2) IMPORTANT Only tighten the nut of the screw (2) to the 2nd stage of the specified tightening torque.
IMPORTANT The SPECIAL TOOL screwdriver bit is to be used when a screw (2) with a multi-point socket is installed.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, spring control arm to rear axle carrier *BA35.20-P-1001-01I
