Front Passenger Seat Seat Occupancy Recognition, Basic Function - GF91.60-P-1006A
Model all (CAR)
Overview
This document contains the following information:
- General
- Function requirement
- Operating principle
General
The seat occupancy recognition detects the occupancy status of the front passenger seat.
On vehicles with automatic front passenger airbag actuation, the front passenger airbag is not triggered in the event of a frontal impact if the front passenger seat is not occupied or is occupied by a child seat.
Supplemental restraint system (SRS)
Function requirement
- Circuit 15R ON
Operating principle
Without automatic front passenger airbag actuation:
The occupancy of the front passenger seat is recorded by a sensor mat which is integrated into the seat cushion. The status "Seat occupied" or "Seat not occupied" can be detected.
The occupancy status of the front passenger seat has no influence on SRS triggering behavior. The occupancy status is only required for the seat belt warning function.
With automatic front passenger airbag actuation:
Occupation of the front passenger seat by a person or a child seat is determined by the weight, which is applied to the front passenger seat. For this, the pressure is measured in a seat mat filled with silicone. The weight applied is classified based on this value.
The following conditions are detected:
- Seat not occupied
- Seat occupied:
- Light weight (e.g. child seat)
- Person recognized
The status of the front passenger airbag (activated/deactivated) and system errors are shown to the driver in the instrument cluster.
