General
The front passenger seat occupancy recognition sensor determines whether a seat is occupied with a person or not.
The determined values are used, e.g. for weight classification and are also made available to the restraint system control unit to precisely control the deployment stage of the airbag(s).
Function
The front passenger seat occupancy recognition records the current occupation status of the front passenger seat. The status of the front passenger seat occupancy recognition is relevant for the seat belt warning. The Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) control unit directly reads in the status of front passenger seat occupancy recognition.
The occupancy status of the front passenger seat has no influence on the triggering behavior of the SRS.
