Remove/Install Front Axle Brake Caliper - AR42.10-P-0070LWA

DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove brakepads (2).   AR42.10-P-1610LWA 
2 Remove electrical connector of right front brakepad wear sensor from brake caliper (1). Only when removing right brake caliper (1).
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 205, 253 4-piston fixed-caliper brake
Model 293 Bolt, brake wear sensor to brake caliper		 *BA42.10-P-1002-10W 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 213 (except 213.061/261)
4-piston fixed-caliper brake Bolt, brake wear sensor to brake caliper		 *BA42.10-P-1002-10X 
3 Remove brake hose (4). INSTALLATION IMPORTANTInstallation:  Bleed brake system only after installing brakepads (2). AR42.10-P-0013LW
4 Unscrew Bolts (3) and remove brake caliper (1). INSTALLATION NOTES:  The new brake caliper (1) is shipped in prefilled condition and it may not be drained.
Otherwise the brake caliper (1) cannot be vented.		  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 205, 253 4-piston fixed-caliper brake
Model 293 Bolt, brake caliper/brake caliper support to steering knuckle		 *BA42.10-P-1001-10W 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Model 213 (except 213.061/261) 4-piston fixed-caliper brake Bolt, brake caliper/brake caliper support to steering knuckle *BA42.10-P-1001-10X 
INSPECT Check     
5 Check brake caliper (1) and dust boots of brake pistons for leak tightness and damage. In the event of a problem,
↓
replace brake caliper (1).		  
6 REFER TO MAINTENANCE Check brake disc for wear and condition. Model 205 except code B07 (AMG - ceramic brake system) 4-piston fixed-caliper brake AP42.10-P-4258EW
    Model 213 (except 213.061/261), 253, 293 4-piston fixed-caliper brake
In the event of a problem,
↓
Replace brake discs.		 AR42.10-P-0120LWG 
    Model 293 AR42.10-P-0230EQ
    Model 205, 213 (except 213.061/261), 253 4-piston fixed-caliper brake AR42.10-P-0220EWE 
7 Install in the reverse order.    
8 Bleed brake system. Model 205, 253
4-piston fixed-caliper brake Model 293		 AR42.10-P-0010LW
    Model 213 (except 213.061/261) 4-piston fixed-caliper brake AR42.10-P-0010LWE
9 Operate brake pedal several times until the brakepads (2) make contact with the brake discs. IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.  
INSPECT Check     
10 Check and correct brake fluid level in brake fluid expansion reservoir.

REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Model 213 (except 213.061/261), 253 4-piston fixed-caliper brake AP42.10-P-4210B

REFER TO MAINTENANCE		 Perform brake test on test stand.   AP42.00-P-4290BA
