	Remove
	Risk of injury  caused by body parts being trapped or crushed when working on a partially open Vario roof (in stop mode) or in its closing area as a result of the Vario roof suddenly collapsing	Secure Vario roof with a suitable special tool.	AS77.50-Z-0001-01A
1	Move Vario roof into intermediate position with the roof switch (S84s1)	Position of C-pillar upper sections (1) vertical. Leave ignition switched on. The Vario roof remains in this position for approx. 7 min. in the stop mode. After 7 min. the Vario roof either moves under its own weight toward the front or retracts automatically into the trunk. The stop mode can be increased by momentarily actuating the Vario roof actuation switch (S84s1) for another 7 minutes.

3	Unclip paneling (3, 4) from C-pillar upper section (1) and remove	Mounting wedge	Figure
4	Unhook spring (5) from C-pillar upper section (1) (arrow A)
5	Separate water drain hose (8)
6	Expose hydraulic lines (9)
7	Expose electrical wiring harness (10)
8	Unscrew bolt (6) from rear window hinge and pull threaded sleeve out at inside
9	Unscrew bolt (7) at top on C-pillar upper section (1)
10	Unscrew locknut (11)
11	Remove bolt (12)
12	Remove C-pillar upper section (1)
	Install
13	Install C-pillar upper section (1)	When replacing C-pillar upper section (1): Replace C-pillar seals. ↓ Replace inner C-pillar seal Remove/install seal at inner C-pillar upper section for Vario roof Replace outer C-pillar seal	AR77.50-P-6768RK
		Remove/install seal at outer top part of C-pillar for Vario roof	AR77.50-P-6766RK
14	Screw in screws/bolts (12)
15	Screw on jam nut (11)	Only position jam nut (11) on with vertical C-pillar upper section (1); to tighten the Vario roof must be completely opened.
16	Screw in bolt (7) at top on C-pillar upper section (1)	Apply thread locking agent. Quick-acting adhesive, Loctite 270	*BR00.45-Z-1008-02A
17	Insert threaded sleeve at inside of rear window hinge and screw in bolt (6)	Apply thread locking agent. Quick-acting adhesive, Loctite 270	*BR00.45-Z-1008-02A
18	Move electrical wiring harness (10) to original installation position
19	Move hydraulic lines (9) to original installation position
20	Connect water drain hose (8)
21	Hook spring (5) into C-pillar upper section (1) (arrow A)
22	Install paneling (3, 4) of C-pillar upper section (1) and clip in	Mounting wedge	Figure
23	Remove support (2)	Helper required to support Vario roof. Support	Figure

24	Completely close Vario roof with Vario roof control switch (S84s1)
25	Completely open Vario roof with Vario roof actuation switch (S84s1)
26	Tighten lock nut (11)	Unscrew jam nut (11) some threads, apply thread locking agent and tighten. Quick-acting adhesive, Loctite 270	*BR00.45-Z-1008-02A
27	Check position of rear window, adjust if necessary		AR77.35-P-1593RK
