Function requirements, general

Convenience feature (CF), general

The CF function enables central opening and closing of the side windows, panoramic sliding sunroof (with code 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof)) or soft top (model 217.4)).

On vehicles with code 889 (KEYLESS-GO), the side windows, panoramic sliding sunroof (with code 413 (Panoramic sliding roof) or soft top (model 217.4) can only be closed via one of the KEYLESS-GO door handles.

On vehicles with CODE 401 (Seat climate control for driver and front passenger), the seat ventilation is activated in addition upon opening.

The CF [KFB] comprises the following partial functions:

Additional function requirements for comfort opening/closing feature via transmitter key

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit transmits the terminal status 15 via the interior CAN.

The status of the left front door is sensed by the left front door control unit, the status of the right front door by the right front door control unit.). On model 222 the status of the left rear door is detected by the left rear door control unit and the status of the right rear door by the right rear door control unit. The information is sent via the interior CAN.

IMPORTANT The range for the transmitter key is limited to the Keyless-Go range in the case of the comfort function (bi-directional communication for range limitation, approx. s = 1 m around vehicle).

Function sequence for comfort opening/closing via transmitter key

Where the unlock button or lock button is pressed on the transmitter key for t > 2 s, this transmits radio signals via the rear window antenna and antenna amplifier FM, AM, CL, DAB and KEYLESS-GO to the KEYLESS-GO control unit. The KEYLESS-GO control unit sends this signal to the electronic ignition lock control unit via interior CAN. The electronic ignition switch control unit checks the access authorization of the transmitter key. If the access authorization is valid, the electronic ignition lock control unit transmits it to the KEYLESS-GO control unit.

The KEYLESS-GO door control unit transmits the signals "Convenience feature mode" and "Convenience feature direction" via the interior CAN to the following control units:

The front door control units open and close the front windows. The rear door control units (model 222) open and close the rear windows.

On model 217.4, the rear control unit initiates opening and closing of the soft top and the rear windows.

On vehicles with CODE 413 (Panoramic sliding sunroof), the roller sun blinds and the panoramic sliding sunroof are opened and closed by the panoramic sliding sunroof control unit.

On vehicles with code 401 (Seat climate control for driver and passenger), the seat ventilation for the driver seat control unit or passenger seat control unit is activated additionally when opening.

Additional function requirements for comfort opening/closing via air recirculation function (except CODE 494 (USA version))

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the status of circuit 15 via interior CAN to the climate control, control unit.

Function sequence for comfort opening/closing via air recirculation function (without code (494) USA version)

The function is started by pressing the air-recirculation mode button on the climate control operating unit for longer than t = 2 s.

When the air recirculation mode is switched on, the open side windows or the panoramic sliding roof (with code 413 (panoramic sliding roof) are closed. Previously store current position. When the air recirculation function is switched off, the side windows and the panoramic sliding roof (with code 413 (panoramic sliding roof) are opened to the previously stored position.

The climate control, control unit reads in the status of the air recirculation mode button via air control LIN 1 and transmits the signals "Convenience feature mode" and "Convenience feature direction" via the interior CAN to the following control units:

IMPORTANT Actuation of the individual components is described in the chapter "Function sequence for convenience opening/closing via transmitter key".

Additional function requirements for comfort closing via KEYLESS-GO (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))

IMPORTANT The electronic ignition lock control unit sends the circuit 15 and the status of the central locking over the interior CAN to the KEYLESS-GO control unit.

Function sequence for comfort closing via KEYLESS-GO (with CODE 889 (KEYLESS-GO))

When the sensor on a KEYLESS-GO door handle is actuated, the comfort closing function is requested. The KEYLESS-GO control unit reads in the status of the sensor on a KEYLESS-GO door handle and sends the signals "Convenience feature mode" and "Convenience feature direction" to the following control units via the interior CAN:

IMPORTANT Actuation of the individual components is described in the chapter "Function sequence for convenience opening/closing via transmitter key".

Comfort closing is interrupted in the following cases:

If during comfort closing or max t = 2 s after the same KEYLESS-GO door handle is pulled, the emergency opening function is activated. In this case, the side windows or the panoramic sliding sunroof (with code 413 (panoramic sliding roof) are actuated in the opening direction. Actuation is performed for min t = 2 s or as long as the KEYLESS-GO door handle is pulled, max. for t = 90 s.
