	Install
1	Remove center and rear engine compartment paneling		AR61.20-P-1105LWE
2.1	Remove starter	Engine 276.8 in model 213, 238 with code M005 (4MATIC)	AR15.30-P-7100MNG
2.2	Remove cap on left engine side	Engine 276.8 in model 238 except code M005 (4MATIC)
3	Check toothing of ring gear of drive plate for wear and damage by rotating engine at center bolt on crankshaft in direction of engine rotation	Socket wrench bit	Fig 3
		For damage ↓ Replace drive plate.

4	Insert retaining lock (1) into access opening	If required, rotate engine further at center bolt for crankshaft in direction of engine rotation until the retaining lock (1) snaps into place.

	Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. 	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. 7	Carry out an engine test run, checking the engine for proper operation and leaktightness
