MAGIC SKY CONTROL, Function - GF77.39-P-3323LF
Model 217.3
with code 398 (Panoramic roof with MAGIC SKY CONTROL)
Model 222
with code 398 (Panoramic roof with MAGIC SKY CONTROL)
Function requirements, general
- Circuit 15R ON or run-on time active (up to t = 3 min after circuit 15R OFF, with front doors not yet open)
The circuit status of circuit 15 is transmitted by the electronic ignition lock control unit to the MAGIC SKY CONTROL, control unit via the interior CAN.
The front door control units transmit the status of the front doors (open or closed) to the MAGIC SKY CONTROL, control unit via interior CAN.
MAGIC SKY CONTROL
On model 222 the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof consists of two glass roof halves (front and rear) and on model 217 of a continuous glass roof surface.
The MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof and the MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof (on model 222) consist of several layers of glass and a suspended particle device layer.
Application of AC power changes the transparency of suspended particle device layer:
- 0 V, suspended particle device layer not transparent
- 120 V, suspended particle device layer transparent
The MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof can be operated using the MAGIC SKY CONTROL switch in the overhead control panel control unit.
The overhead control panel control unit directly reads in the status of the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof switch and transmits it (in vehicles up to model year 2018) to the MAGIC SKY CONTROL, control unit via the roof LIN, front SAM control unit and interior CAN.
In vehicles from model year 2018 and later, the overhead control panel control unit transmits the status of the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof switch to the MAGIC SKY CONTROL, control unit via the interior CAN. The MAGIC SKY CONTROL, control unit actuates the MAGIC SKY CONTROL high voltage transformer. The MAGIC SKY CONTROL high voltage transformer converts the power applied supplying the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof with AC.
If the transparency status of the MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof differs from that of the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof on model 222, the transparency of the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof is adapted to the MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof, if the MAGIC SKY CONTROL switch is actuated. All subsequent changes are performed synchronously.
The transparency changes only after opening the corresponding roller sun blind. If the roller sun blind is closed when the transparent MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof is closed, it darkens automatically.
At negative temperatures the transparency changes more slowly and not uniformly. The entire procedure may last longer.
If the transparency of the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof is actuated via the MAGIC SKY CONTROL switch and circuit 15R is switched off, the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof is deactivated. If circuit 15R is switched back on, the transparency of the MAGIC SKY CONTROL roof is restored to the original state (load mode).
Model 222:
The MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof can be operated additionally from the rear via the MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof switch in the corresponding rear door switch group.
The corresponding rear door control unit reads in the status of the MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof switch in the rear door switch group via the rear roof LIN and sends it to the MAGIC SKY CONTROL, control unit via interior CAN.
The MAGIC SKY CONTROL, control unit actuates MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof high voltage transformer. The MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof high voltage transformer converts the power applied supplying the MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof with AC.
If the child safety lock in the rear is actuated, the MAGIC SKY CONTROL rear roof can no longer be operated from the rear.
