Remove/Install Timing Chain Tensioner - AR05.10-P-7800MRI

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove coolant pump. INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install lower engine compartment paneling after leak test. AR20.10-P-1271MRI
2 Pierce cap (1) in center with suitable means and pry out. NOTES
Do not pry out cap (1) at side.
Timing case cover will otherwise be damaged.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT change the cap (1).
 
3 Remove chain tensioner (2). INSTALLATION NOTES
Only reuse chain tensioner (2) if it had no noticeable problems in prior operation and no chain drive components were replaced. Engine damage can otherwise occur.
IMPORTANT Chain tensioner (2) is pretensioned by an internal spring and extends fully during removal.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, chain tensioner to bracket

INSPECT Check     
4 Check whether chain tensioner (2) has fully extended. If there is a problem,
↓
Replace chain tensioner (2).
 
5 Check bracket (4) for damage. If damage is present,
↓
Remove timing case cover, remove screws (3) and replace bracket (4).

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Screw/bolt, chain tensioner holder to crankcase *BA05.10-P-1002-03B 
6 Install in the reverse order.    
WARNING Risk of burn injuries  , suffocation and poisoning when working on the exhaust system and the components connected to it. Risk of suffocation and risk of poisoning caused by inhalation of gaseous and solid components of the exhaust. Risk of poisoning  caused by skin contact with solid components of the exhaust. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. Use the extraction system. Move people out of the hazard area. AS49.00-Z-0001-01A
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
7 Perform engine test run. While doing so, check engine for proper operation and leak tightness.    
8 Install lower engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105LW
