Remove/Install Front Cover On Cylinder Head - AR01.30-P-5700MRB

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers.
Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of Engine oil. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing Engine oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not fill Engine oil into beverage containers.

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove upper Engine cover INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Do not install upper Engine cover until after the leak test.  
2 Remove Engine air intake duct upstream of air filter    
3 Unscrew cap from expansion reservoir and relieve pressure in the low-temperature circuit    
4 Remove charge air pipe (2) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Check seal for damage and replace if necessary.  
5 Remove line (4) from front cover (1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION M6X1 *BA00.10-P-1002-04A 
6 Remove charge air cooler (5) and place to one side with connected coolant lines   AR09.41-P-6819MRA
7 Release and disconnect electrical connections of the inlet- and exhaust camshaft (Y49/1, Y49/2) solenoids    
8 Remove oil filter element (3)

9 Unscrew screw/bolts (9) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, front cover to cylinder head/cylinder head cover *BA01.30-P-1003-01Y 
10 Remove front cover (1) and take out Notes on sealant path for front cover to cylinder head xxx NOTES Do not hammer in a tool to pry off between cylinder head cover and front cover (1).
The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply sealant to front cover (1). Observe notes on sealant path for front cover (1).

    SPECIAL TOOL Application gun Fig 2
11 Remove solenoids on inlet and exhaust camshaft (Y49/1, Y49/2) Only when replacing front cover (1). AR05.20-P-7295MRA
CLEAN Clean     
12 Clean sealing surfaces on front cover (1), cylinder head and cylinder head cover NOTES Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can be damaged otherwise.

    Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A 
    Loctite 7063 (400 ml) cleaning spray *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
13 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Check     
14 Check and correct oil level    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP18.00-P-1811MP
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when Engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the Engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
15 Perform an Engine test run and check Engine for proper operation and leak tightness    
16 Install upper Engine cover
