Remove/Install Engine Oil Pan - AR01.45-P-7500MRA

    INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Only install front and lower center Engine compartment paneling after performing a leak test. AR20.00-P-1142LW
5 Remove drain screw from oil pan (1) and catch Engine oil in a suitable container.

15 Release and disconnect electrical connector o oil level check switch (S43).    
16 Remove electric line of oil level check switch (S43) from oil pan (1).    
17 Remove electrical water pump ground line from oil pan (1). Engine 274.9 in model 205 (except 205.048/049/148/248/348/349/448/449), 253 (except 253.349/948/949)
INSTALLATION NOTES Ensure correct seating of the electrical water pump ground line at oil pan (1).
Electrical malfunctions on the electrical water pump can occur otherwise.

18 Remove screws (3s) and remove oil pan lower part (3).

REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 84 00 Heat gun NOTES Do not drive any tools between oil pan bottom section (3) and oil pan (1) to loosen them.
Heat oil pan bottom section (3) in area of the sealing surfaces if necessary using a heat gun.
The sealing surface will be damaged otherwise.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply sealant to oil pan bottom section (3).

    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Transmission 724.2 in model 205.047/147/247, 253.354/954 with Engine 274.9Bolt/nut, transmission to engine *BA27.10-P-1001-04G

21 Remove screws (1s). IMPORTANT Pay attention to different lengths of screws.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, oil pan to crankcase/timing case cover

22 Release oil pan (1) from crankcase and remove downward.    
  Notes on sealant path for oil pan   AH01.45-P-0001-01MMA
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 00 84 00 Heat gun NOTES Do not drive in tools between crankcase and oil pan (1) for release purposes. If necessary, heat oil pan (1) in area of sealing surfaces using a hot air gun.
The sealing surface will be damaged otherwise.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Apply sealant to oil pan (1) and, in doing so, observe notes on sealant path on the oil pan (1).

23 Check pilot bushing (50) for damage. Engine 274.9 in model 205

If pilot bushing (50) is damaged:
↓
Replace pilot bushing (50).
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Observe installation position (arrow).

When installing a new oil pan (1).
NOTESINSTALLATION NOTES Pilot bushing (50) must be installed in oil pan (1).
Otherwise, the radial shaft sealing ring on the front axle differential will be damaged.
If pilot bushing (50) is not seated correctly in oil pan (1):

Install pilot bushing (50) in oil pan (1) correctly
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Observe installation position (arrow).
 
25 Remove oil level check switch (S43). When installing a new oil pan (1). AR18.40-P-5113MRA
26 Remove intermediate shaft from oil pan (1). Engine 274.9 in model 205 with transmission 722.96

28 Clean sealing surfaces of oil pan (1), oil pan lower part (3), and crankcase. NOTES Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper.
The sealing surfaces can get damaged otherwise.

29 Install in the reverse order.

32 Perform Engine test run and, while doing so, check Engine and transmission for leak tightness and function.    
33 Install the front and lower center Engine compartment lining.   AR61.20-P-1105LW
