Remove/Install Air Conditioner Housing - AR83.30-P-5200LW

DANGER Risk of injury  when working on air conditioning systems due to R744 refrigerant escaping under pressure. Risk of suffocation from inhaling R744 refrigerant in high concentrations. Health hazard caused by inhalation of R744 refrigerant Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been evacuated.

WARNING Risk of injury  to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolantspray. Risk of poisoning  from swallowing coolant. Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90°C. Open cap slowly and release the overpressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage containers. REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Discharge air conditioning system. Model 213 with code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant) AR83.30-P-1760LW 
2 Remove windshield wiper system. Model 213 with code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant) AR82.30-P-6400LW
3.1 Remove low and high-pressure line from expansion valve. Model 205, 253

3.2 Remove bolt (13). Model 213 with code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant) @ Refrigerant line (CO2) to evaporator *BA83.30-P-1010-01R 
4 Carefully open the cap on the coolant expansion reservoir, release the pressure in the coolant system and close the cap again.    
5 Clamp off coolant hoses (11) with clamping devices and remove from heat exchanger. IMPORTANT Collect escaping coolant.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace clamps (12).

6 Seal connections of heat exchanger with stop plugs. SPECIAL TOOL Record plug Fig 4
7 Remove instrument panel. Model 205, 253 AR68.10-P-1000LW

8 Disconnect positive line and Ground line from PTC heater booster. Model 205 with engine 264, 274 with code 228 (Additional warm water heating)

9 Remove crossmember under instrument panel. Model 205, 253 AR62.30-P-1250LW
    Model 213 AR62.30-P-1250LWE
10 Disconnect electrical connectors (1, 2) from climate control control unit (N22/1).    
11 Disconnect electrical connector (3) from blower regulator (A32n1).    
12 Extend center air ducts (4) at air conditioner housing (A32).    
13 Extend front footwell air ducts (5) at air conditioner housing (A32).    
14 Carefully remove air conditioner housing (A32] and take off towards passenger side. INSTALLATION NOTES Ensure correct seating of seal (6) between recess (7) of air conditioner housing (A32) and condensation drain (8).
Otherwise condensation may get into the vehicle interior.
IMPORTANT Helper required.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the bolts (9) are seated in the guides (10).
 
15 Seal openings of refrigerant lines (14, 15) and evaporator. Model 213
with code 1U6 (R744 refrigerant)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace sealing rings of refrigerant lines (14, 15).

16 Install in the reverse order    
17 Fill up coolant, bleed the engine cooling system and check for leaktightness. Model 205, 213, 253
