Remove/Install Dual Clutch - AR27.20-P-0070MFA

CAUTION Risk of injury  to skin and eyes due to handling of transmission oil. Health risk caused by swallowing transmission oil Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses.
Do not pour transmission oil into beverage bottles.

Deburr repair panels.

REMOVING Remove     
1 Remove transmission.   AR27.10-P-0009MFA 
2 Attach automatic transmission to assembly stand.   AR27.10-P-0600-01MFA 
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 27 31 00 Assembly stand for cars   WS01.00-P-0262B
    IMPORTANTCommercially available devices/tools

SPECIAL TOOL Assembly device

3 Remove retaining ring (1). NOTES Do not damage seat of retaining ring (1) and sealing surface on coupling housing (27K).
Otherwise leaks may occur.
If slight damage is detected on the sealing surface of the clutch housing (27K)

grind down sealing surface in area of retaining ring (1) on coupling housing (27K) using oily abrasive paper, then clean.
 
REFER TO CAPACITIES & SPECIFICATIONS   Automatic transmission fluids (ATF) (specification 236.22) BB00.40-P-0236-22A
    Assembly cleaner *BR00.45-Z-1028-04A 
4 Pry off cap (2) using suitable tool.    
5 Remove shim (3).    
6 Remove axial bearing (4).    
7 Check axial bearing (4) for damage. If damage is found

replace axial bearing (4).
 
8 Pull locking pin (A) upwards. SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
9 Open lever (B) all the way. SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
10 Mount assembly tool (01) onto dual clutch (5). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
11 Pull safety pin (A) upward again. SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
12 Close lever (B) and latch locking pin (A) into assembly tool (01). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
13 Lift dual clutch (5) out of clutch housing (27K) using assembly tool (01). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
14 Remove sealing rings (6) from dual clutch (5).    
INSTALLING Install     
15 Install sealing rings (6) of dual clutch (5). IMPORTANT Replace sealing rings (6) and check sealing rings (6) are correctly seated.  
16 Insert dual clutch (5) carefully and without tilting it into the coupling housing (27K). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
17 Turn dual clutch (5) slightly until the toothing of the drive shaft (30) and the hollow shaft (40) engages correctly in the dual clutch (5). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
18 Remove assembly tool (01) from dual clutch (5). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly tool Fig 5
19 Install axial bearing (4).    
20 Install shim (3).    
MEASURING Measure     
21 Measure installed dimension of dual clutch (5) and adjust.   AR27.20-P-0070-01MFA

22 Fit assembly sleeve onto drive shaft (30). IMPORTANT The assembly sleeve is required to protect the sealing lip on the cap (2)

23 Install cover (2). IMPORTANT Replace cap (2).  
24 Check retaining ring (1) for damage. If damage is found

Install new retaining ring (1).
 
25 Install retaining ring (1). IMPORTANT Ensure the retaining ring (1) is seated correctly.  
26 Detach assembly sleeve from drive shaft (30). SPECIAL TOOL Assembly sleeve Fig 2
27 Remove automatic transmission from assembly stand.

28 Install automatic transmission.   AR27.10-P-0009MFA 
INSPECT Check     
29 Check transmission oil level, correct, if necessary.   AR27.00-P-0104MFA 
WARNING Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
30 Carry out engine test run, checking engine and automatic transmission for proper operation and leak tightness whilst doing so.
