IMPORTANT Use the following special tools: 2x SPECIAL TOOL parallel gauge, SPECIAL TOOL support.

IMPORTANT When ordering the special tool SPECIAL TOOL parallel gauge please note that the scope of supply only includes one special tool.

IMPORTANT A digital vernier caliper (02) is required to determine the shim size for the dual clutch (5).

Determine "dimension A"

  1. Install retaining ring (1).
  2. SPECIAL TOOL Position parallel gauges (01) onto coupling housing (27K).
  3. Calibrate digital vernier caliper (02).

IMPORTANT Position digital vernier caliper (02) on the SPECIAL TOOL parallel gauges (01) and measure down to coupling housing (27K) thereby making the zero adjustment.

Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the contact surface on the coupling housing (27K).

  4. Measure height distance between SPECIAL TOOL parallel gauges (01) and retaining ring (1) of clutch cover (2).

IMPORTANT Perform measurement at three positions and calculate the mean value. Pull retaining ring (1) upwards during the measurement. Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the measurement surface on the retaining ring (1).

    Determine "dimension B"

  5. Measure height between SPECIAL TOOL parallel gauges (01) and the thrust bearing (4) of the dual clutch (5).

IMPORTANT Perform measurement at three positions and calculate the mean value. A shim must not be installed during the measurement. Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the measurement surface on the thrust bearing (4).

    Determine "dimension C"

  6. Insert new coupling cover (2) into SPECIAL TOOL support (03).
  7. SPECIAL TOOL Place parallel gauges (01) onto SPECIAL TOOL support (03).
  8. Calibrate digital vernier caliper (02).

IMPORTANT Insert digital vernier caliper (02) into SPECIAL TOOL mount (03) and measure down to contact surface, thereby making the zero adjustment. Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the contact surface on the SPECIAL TOOL support (03).

  9. Measure height difference between SPECIAL TOOL mount (03) and clutch cover (2).

IMPORTANT Perform measurement at three positions and calculate the mean value. Make sure that the digital vernier caliper (02) is absolutely vertical to the measurement surface on the coupling cover (2).

  10. Calculate shim size for adjusting the axial play of dual clutch (5):

    Shim size:

    Dimension B

    + Dimension C

    - Dimension A

    - Fixed dimension of retaining ring (3 mm)

    = Shim size "S" + oversize tolerance

    Example calculation:

    Shim size:

    14.80 mm (dimension B)

    + 20.06 mm (dimension C)

    - 30.65 mm (dimension A)

    - 3 mm (Fixed dimension of retaining ring)

    = 1.21 mm + oversize tolerance (0 to 0.2 mm)

IMPORTANT Add an excess tolerance of 0 to 0.2 mm to the calculated value. In the calculation example, a shim with a thickness of 1.4 mm is now installed. The shims are available in a thickness of 0.8 to 2.6 mm in increments of 0.2 mm.

  11. Insertion of determined shims into axial bearing (4).
  12. Remove retaining ring (1).

IMPORTANT When removing the retaining ring (1) make sure that the seat of the retaining ring (1) and the sealing surface on the coupling housing (27K) are not damaged.
