  Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between vehicle lift columns and position the four support plates at the vehicle lift support points specified by the vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Remove rear wheel.   AR40.10-P-1102A
2 Remove cover from spring link (6).    
3 Detach fender liner in rear fender in area of shock absorber. Model 205, 253, 293 AR88.10-P-1400LW
4 Disconnect electrical connectors (9) and place lines to one side. If electrically adjustable shock absorbers (4) are installed.  
5 Prop up the spring link (6) using a suitable hydraulic lifting device.    
6 Remove nut (5) and remove screw from spring H Self-locking nut, shock absorber to spring link (6). control arm   *BA32.25-P-1001-03P 
7 Remove bolts_(7). TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, shock absorber to body *BA32.25-P-1002-03P 
8.1 Press shock absorber (4) together and remove upwards. Model 205, 253, 293
Model 213.0/1 Model 213.2 except code 489 (AIRMATIC)
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that the cutouts (arrows a) in suspension strut mount (12) match with the elevations (arrows b) in the body.
 
8.2 Press shock absorber (4) together, as shown, using tensioning strap (3) and remove upwards. Model 213.2 with code 489 (AIRMATIC)
NOTES Make sure that the surface of the shock absorber (4) is not damaged by the ratchet (2) of the tensioning strap (3).
Otherwise the shock absorber (4) must not be reused.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Ensure that the cutouts (arrows a) in suspension strut mount (12) match with the elevations (arrows b) in the body.
 
INSPECT Check     
9 Check shock absorber (4) and seal (13) for damage and leakage. IMPORTANT Model 205, 213.1/2, 253, 293
Model 213.0 with code 489 (AIRMATIC) The shock absorber (4) is only available as an assembly with the suspension strut mount (12).
If problems exist,

Replace shock absorber (4) with suspension strut mount (12).
 
10 Check suspension strut mount (12). Model 213 except code 489 (AIRMATIC)
If problems exist,

replace suspension strut mount (12).
INSTALLATION NOTES Use the socket set to remove the SPECIAL TOOL standard nut.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace self-locking nut. Use a commercially available long Allen key with a size of 5 mm and the SPECIAL TOOL deep socket with size of 16 mm from the socket set.
 
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Nut, support bushing to shock absorber (piston rod) *BA32.25-P-1003-03P 
    SPECIAL TOOL Socket set Fig 1
    SPECIAL TOOL Set of socket wrench bits Fig 2
11 Install in the reverse order.
