Check Condition Of Steering And Tie Rods - AP46.00-P-4651D

  Preparatory tasks     
1 Release steering lock    
REMOVING Remove     
2 Remove front engine compartment paneling and loosen center engine compartment paneling    
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 190 (except 190.381) AR61.20-P-1105RG
REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 190.381 AR61.20-P-1105RGB
INSPECT Check     
3 Check tie rod joint boots (3) on tie rod ends (1) for condition, leak tightness and correct seating If there are complaints:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
4 Check tie rod ball joints (2) for play by firmly tugging and pushing the tie rod ends (1) If there are complaints:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
5 Check tie rod end (1) at left or right and tie rod (4) for secure connection with each other by firmly tugging and pushing IMPORTANT Check for deformation and damage.  
    If there are complaints:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
6 Check each of the inner tie rod ball joints for play by firmly tugging and pushing them on the tie rod (4) towards the steering If there are complaints:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
7 Stretch boots (6) by turning steering all way to the right and left, and check for cracks, intrusions and chafe marks NOTES
Do not check the boots (6) by pressing in or around the raised beads.
Otherwise the material may be damaged, leading to leakage with consequential damage.
 
    If there are complaints:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
8 Check that clamps (5) are seated firmly and correctly NOTES
Clamps (5) may not be damaged, nor loose or be incorrectly seated.
Otherwise this may lead to leakage with consequential damage.
 
    If there are complaints:

Rectify problem subject to separate repair order.
 
9 Check steering If there are complaints:

Subject to separate repair order, replace steering for safety reasons.
 
INSTALLING Install     
10 Install front engine compartment paneling and secure center engine compartment paneling

REFER TO TESTING & REPAIR   Model 190.381 AR61.20-P-1105RGB
