DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A 
WARNING Risk of injury.  Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
CAUTION Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Open hood.   AR88.40-P-1000RG
2 Unscrew cap of brake fluid reservoir and suction off some brake fluid. IMPORTANT This prevents the brake fluid reservoir overflowing when the brake piston is pushed back.  
3 Remove rear wheel and tire assemblies.   AR40.10-P-1100RQ
4 Disconnect electrical connector for left rear brake lining wear sensor (S10/3x1) from left rear brake lining wear sensor (S10/3). When removing brake pads (5) on left side of vehicle.  
5 Remove screw (2) and remove electrical connector for left rear brake lining wear sensor (S10/3x1) from brake caliper (1). IMPORTANT Only necessary on left side of vehicle.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, brake wear indicator to brake caliper *BA42.10-P-1002-12T 
6 Remove left electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/1) or right electric parking brake actuator motor (M76/2).   AR42.20-P-0600RG 
7 Unscrew screws (3) at lower and upper guide pin (4). IMPORTANT Counterhold lower and upper guide pin (4) while doing so.  
    TORQUE SPECIFICATION Guide pin to brake caliper support *BA42.10-P-1004-12T 
8 Remove brake caliper (1).    
9 Press back brake piston using pusher tool. SPECIAL TOOL Resetting device Fig 1
10 Remove brake hose (7) at brake caliper (1).   AR42.10-P-0013RG 
  Checking, measuring     
11 Check condition of brake linings (5) and measure degree of wear. If necessary, replace brake linings (5).  
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.10-P-4252A
12 Check condition of brake disk and gauge degree of wear. If necessary, replace brake disk.

13 Check boots (6) and guide pins (4) for damage and ease of movement. If there is a problem,

Replace brake caliper support (8).
 
14 Check brake hose (7) and brake line piece (99) for damage. INSTALLATION NOTES
The brake line piece (99) of the brake hose (7) must not be bent.
A bent brake line piece (99) can lead to functional impairment of the brake system.
 
    If there is a problem,

replace brake hose (7).

CLEAN Clean     
15 Clean contact surfaces of brake linings (5) at brake caliper (1) and at brake caliper support (8). NOTES
Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects.
Otherwise, the dust boots may be damaged.
 
16 Install in the reverse order.    
INSPECT Check     
17 Bleed brake system.   AR42.10-P-0010RG 
18 Check brake system for leaks.   AR42.10-P-0100-01V 
19 Perform brake test on test stand.
