	Remove/install
1	Remove cover above left suspension strut tower.
2	Clean area around cap on brake fluid expansion reservoir.	Assembly cleaner	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
3	Unscrew cap of expansion reservoir for brake fluid.
4	Extract some brake fluid.	In order to prevent the expansion reservoir overflowing when pressing back the brake pistons.
5	Remove front wheel and tire assemblies.

6	Release and disconnect electrical connection for front right brake wear sensor (S10/2x1) of front right brake wear sensor (S10/2).
7	Remove screw (30).	Bolt for anti-rattle spring support	*BA42.10-P-1005-10L
8	Remove support (33).
9	Use suitable tool to drive out retaining pins (41) and remove retaining spring (31d).	Replace retaining pins (41) if necessary.
10.1	Pull brake pads (43) out of brake caliper (31a)	If the brake linings (43) are not seized. Do not apply any brake paste or lubricants to brake linings (43) and brake calipers (31a). Malfunctions may occur otherwise. Only complete sets of brake linings (43) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed. Make sure that the brake linings (43) are installed at the correct position.
10.2	Push brake pads (43) out of brake caliper (31a).	If the brake linings (43) are seized. Do not apply any brake paste or lubricants to brake linings (43) and brake calipers (31a). Malfunctions may occur otherwise. Only complete sets of brake linings (43) approved by Mercedes-Benz may be installed. Make sure that the brake linings (43) are installed at the correct position.

12	Check brake disks (61) for wear and condition

13	Check brake caliper (31a) and dust boots of brake piston for leak tightness and damage.	If problems exist, ↓ Replace brake caliper (31a).

14	Secure brake piston against falling down.	Wedge	Fig 3
15	Press back brake pistons with pusher tool.	The remaining brake pistons must be secured against slipping out.
		Resetting device If the brake piston is sluggish, ↓ Replace brake caliper (31a).	Fig 2

16	Clean contact surfaces of brake pads (43) at brake caliper (31a).	Do not damage the brake piston dust boots. Do not use sharp-edged or pointed objects. The brake caliper (31a) must otherwise be replaced.
17	Pull front right brake wear sensor (S10/2) out of backing plate of brake pad (43).	Assembly cleaner Only when replacing the brake linings (43) or if the front right brake wear sensor (S10/2) is defective.	*BR00.45-Z-1028-04A
18	Install in the reverse order.
	Risk of accident when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work.	Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system.	AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
19	Press brake pedal several times until brake pads (43) make contact with brake disks (61).

20	Check fluid level in expansion reservoir for brake fluid; correct if necessary.

21	Perform brake test on test stand.
