Tasks
The primary task of the ME-SFI [ME] control unit is electronic engine management with the goal of economic engine operation with low emissions. In doing so the ME-SFI [ME] control unit continuously detects the relevant influencing factors, processes these and determines respective control signals for the individual actuators. For example injection quantities, the injection period, charging and throttle valve position are controlled. For deviations from normal operation the respective information is stored in the fault memory.
The electronic engine management includes the control of the following functions:
- Fuel supply
- Ignition system
- Injection quantity control
- Heat management
- Torque coordination (detection and implementation of corresponding requests)
- Charging
- Knock sensor system
- Exhaust treatment
- ECO start/stop function (with CODE MJ7 (ECO start/stop function))
- Catching the fuelling gases (with code ZU8 (National version USA))
- Purge control
- Diagnosis and fault storage
The ME-SFI [ME] control unit is networked over the following bus systems with the vehicle electronics:
- Drive-LIN (LIN C1)
