	Remove/Install
1	Remove cylinder head cover.	Installation : Install the upper engine cover and lower engine compartment panels only after checking for leaks.	AR01.20-P-5014MRD
2	Remove the charge air distributor from the cylinder head (1) and secure it outside the working area.		AR09.41-P-8683MRD
3	Remove the exhaust turbocharger with exhaust manifold.		AR09.40-P-6036MRD

6	Remove camshaft bearing bridges from cylinder head (1).

9	Unlock and disconnect electrical plug connection of coolant temperature sensor (B11 / 4).
10	Remove spark plugs.

11	Remove the caps (9) from the cylinder head (1).	Installation: Replace cap (9).
12	Remove slide rail pins (10).

13	Loosen cylinder head bolts in stages in the reverse order of tightening procedure and remove them.	Cylinder head bolts tightening procedure. Only loosen cylinder head bolts when the engine has cooled down. Otherwise the cylinder head (1) will be damaged.	AR01.30-P-5800-01MR

	Clean
19	Clean the sealing surfaces of the cylinder head (1), the timing case cover and the crankcase.	Do not use any sharp-edged tools or sandpaper. Otherwise, the sealing surfaces may be damaged and engine and the environmental damage can occur as a result. The machining and/or cleaning of sealing surfaces via spot grinding with abrasive paper or other abrasive materials to remove seal residues are not permitted. Even the smallest quantities of aluminum oxide, grinding particles and abrasion that enter the engine oil chamber, the bearing points or the combustion chambers lead to damage and thus to engine damage. The sealing surfaces must feel even after treatment. The sealing surface do not have to be metallic bright, thin layers of firmly adhering silicone sealant can remain. Only cleaning with the approved adhesive and sealant remover is permitted. Observe the manufacturer's processing instructions.	AR01.00-P-0050-01A

20	Cover threaded holes of cylinder head bolts in crankcase with rags and blow out with compressed air.
	Check
21	Check the sealing surfaces of the cylinder head (1), the timing case cover and crankcase for cracks and unevenness.	Installation : Tightening cylinder head bolts compensates for a slight distortion of the cylinder head (1) in the longitudinal or transverse direction. Check relevant sealing surfaces of engine for unevenness, score marks, etc. If unevenness, score marks, etc. are present, ↓ Replace affected component.
22	Install in the reverse order.
