MODIFICATION NOTES

26.6.15 Pressure drop in refrigerant circuit filled with nitrogen   BE83.30-P-1001-04A
DANGER Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. Secure vehicle to prevent it from starting off by itself. Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes. Do not touch hot or rotating parts. AS00.00-Z-0005-01A
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by welding or soldering work on closed air conditioning system. Risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling overheated refrigerant vapors. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by contact with liquid refrigerant. Never perform welding work on or near a closed air conditioning system. No smoking or open flames. Wear safety glasses and protective gloves. Work only in well ventilated areas. Carry out repair work on the air conditioning system circuit only after the system has been drained. AS83.00-Z-0001-01A

INSPECT Check     
1 Evacuate air conditioning system   AR83.30-P-1760LW 
2 Fill high and low-pressure sides of air conditioning system with nitrogen and check for leaktightness    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 10 21 00 Leak tester   WS83.00-P-0008B 
    IMPORTANT Fill air conditioning system when engine cold only.
IMPORTANT Temperature changes during the pressure test (e.g. through change in weather or cooling down of the engine compartment overnight) can cause pressure surges.
Consistent ambient conditions must therefore be strictly ensured.
 
    Pressure drop in refrigerant circuit filled with nitrogen *BE83.30-P-1001-04A 
3.1 Extract nitrogen and fill air conditioning system If a pressure drop was detected. AR83.30-P-1760LW 
3.2 Check refrigerant circuit for leaktightness using leak detection spray In the event of pressure drop.
In the event of leak in refrigerant circuit:

Drain nitrogen, replace damaged components of refrigerant circuit and fill air conditioning system again.

If a leak is not detected:

Drain nitrogen.
 
4 Check entire engine compartment using UV lamp IMPORTANT Observe operator's manual for leak detector system.
If traces of test fluid are found:

Remove test fluid using suitable cleaner and wash the engine.
 
5 Fill refrigerant circuit   AR83.30-P-1760LW 
6 Add test fluid to refrigerant circuit IMPORTANT Observe operator's manual for leak detector system.  
7 Search refrigerant circuit using UV lamp for leaks IMPORTANT Observe operator's manual for leak detector system.
If traces of test fluid are found:

Replace damaged components in refrigerant circuit.
If a test fluid is not detected:

Replace evaporator.
