5	Remove screw (16a) and detach detent plate spring element (16).
6	Remove detent plate clamp screw (82a) and pull out shift shaft (40).
7	Pry out the radial shaft sealing ring (20) using a suitable tool.	Make sure that the contact surface in the transmission housing (1) is not damaged. Leaks can occur otherwise.
	Check
8	Check shift shaft (40) for galling and damage; install a new shift shaft if necessary.
	Install
9	Use drift (01) to drive in radial shaft sealing ring (20) up to end stop in transmission housing (1).	Check radial shaft sealing ring (20) is correctly seated in transmission housing (1). Leaks can occur otherwise. Drift	Fig 2
10	Insert shift shaft (40) and screw in clamp screw for detent plate (82a).	Make sure that the shift shaft (40) is positioned correctly in the detent plate (82).

	Risk of accident  from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury  (bruises and burns) resulting from working on the engine while it is being started or when it is running. 16	Perform engine test run and check transmission housing (1) at connecting points and on radial shaft sealing ring (20) for leak tightness then check the transmission for proper operation.
