Persons who wear electronic implants (e.g. cardiac pacemakers), must not carry out any work on high-voltage on-board electrical systems.

IMPORTANT Evaluation of high-voltage components   AH54.00-P-6500-01SXH
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1 Perform enable for the high voltage on-board electrical system   AR54.10-P-1150NKE
2 Disconnect high-voltage connector (37) from high-voltage battery (G5) and cover with suitable protective covers INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Make sure that the high-voltage connector (37) engages properly.  
SPECIAL TOOL Set of protective caps Fig 8
3 Remove front drive shafts (1)   AR33.30-P-0620NKB
4 Remove left fender liner in front fender   AR88.10-P-1300NKB
5 Remove crash strut (2) IMPORTANT Remove screw/bolts (3, 4) for this purpose.  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, connecting carrier to front axle carrier *BA62.30-P-1004-04D 
6 Disconnect coolant line (5) at connecting point (6) and drain off coolant IMPORTANT Collect flowing out coolant in a suitable container.
IMPORTANT
 
SPECIAL TOOL Set of protective caps Fig 8
7 Detach coolant line (5) from electrical machine (A79/3) IMPORTANT To do this detach clamp (7), retaining clip (8) and clamp (9).  
8 Remove fender liner cover (10) in front fender    
9 Disconnect coolant line (11) at connecting point (12) and drain off coolant IMPORTANT Collect flowing out coolant in a suitable container.

10 Release and disconnect electrical connection (13)    
11 Remove bracket (14) IMPORTANT To do this, remove screw/bolt (15).  
12 Release and disconnect electrical connection (16) INSTALLATION NOTES
Only insert electrical connection (16) when the cover (18) is installed.
There could be a risk of getting an electric shock due to a missing cover (18).
IMPORTANT Do not separate cable tie (17).
 
13 Remove cover (18) IMPORTANT To do this, remove screw/bolt (19).  
14 Remove high voltage electrical lines (21) IMPORTANT To do this, remove screw/bolts (20).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, high-voltage connection to electric motor *BA54.10-P-1007-03D 
15 Expose high voltage electrical lines (21 and detach from bracket (22) IMPORTANT To do this, remove screw/bolt (27).  
16 Detach ground strap (23) IMPORTANT To do this, remove screw/bolt (24).  
17 Remove park pawl switch (28)   AR26.19-P-0050NKE
18 Lift electrical machine (A79/3) with telescopic lifter (29) slightly    
REFER TO SPECIAL TOOLS 000 588 11 62 00 Major assembly mount   WS01.00-P-0092B
19 Remove lower engine hinged support (25)   AR22.10-P-1130NKE
20 Remove engine holder (26) IMPORTANT To do this, remove screw/bolt (30).  
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, torque support to drive unit frame *BA08.10-P-1003-01G 
21 Remove screw/bolts (31, 32, 33) TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt, drive unit to drive unit frame *BA08.10-P-1001-01G 
22 Lower and remove electrical machine (A79/3) NOTES Secure electrical machine (A79/3) at telescopic lifter (29) with a lashing strap.
The electrical machine (A79/3) can fall down otherwise and get damaged.
IMPORTANT Lower the electrical machine (A79/3) slowly and turn this at the rear elastomer bearing on transmission stepwise through its own axis.
IMPORTANT Aid of helper required.
 
23 Mount eyelets, lift electrical machine (A79/3) and turn When replacing the electrical machine (A79/3).

24 Install in the reverse order
