Remove/install front axle brake caliper - AR42.10-P-0070RK

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of injury  . Skin or eye injuries may result when handling hot or glowing objects. Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and safety glasses, if necessary. AS00.00-Z-0002-01A
DANGER Risk of poisoning  from swallowing brake fluid. Risk of injury  from skin and eye contact with brake fluid Only pour brake fluid into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing and eye protection when handling brake fluid. AS42.50-Z-0001-01A

1 Remove brake linings Model 231.474/479

2 Unscrew screw/bolt (1) and remove right front brake wear sensor electrical connector (S10/2x1) from brake caliper (2) and expose electrical line (3) When removing the brake caliper (2) on the right side of the vehicle.
TORQUE SPECIFICATION MODEL 231 Bolt, brake pad contact sensor to brake caliper

3 Remove brake hose (4) from brake caliper (2)   AR42.10-P-0013RK 
4 Remove bolts (5) and remove brake caliper (2) INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace screw/bolts (5). When tightening with torque make sure that the brake caliper (2) is one with an aluminum thread or a steel bushing.

INSPECT Check     
5 Check condition of brake linings and measure degree of wear    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   If necessary, replace brake linings:

    Remove/check/install front axle brake pads

    Remove/check/install front axle brake pads

6 Check condition of brake disk (6) and measure degree of wear    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE   Model 231

Replace brake disks (6) if necessary:
AP42.10-P-4258RK 
    Remove/install brake disc AR42.10-P-0220RK 
7 Check brake caliper (2) and dust boots of brake pistons for leaktightness and damage IMPORTANT If damaged, replace brake caliper (2).  
8 Press back brake piston using resetting device IMPORTANT If the brake pistons are sluggish, replace the brake caliper (2).

CLEAN Clean     
9 Clean contact surfaces of brake linings on brake caliper (2) NOTES
While doing so, do not damage the dust boots of the brake piston, and do not use any sharp- edged or pointed objects.
The brake caliper (2) must otherwise be replaced.
Assembly cleaner

10 Install in the reverse order    
DANGER Risk of accident  when commissioning the vehicle due to a lack of braking effect when the service brake is operated for the first time after repair work. Before starting the engine, actuate brake pedal several times until pressure is built up and maintained in the brake system. AS42.50-Z-0002-01A
11 Operate brake pedal several times until brake linings (6) rest against brake disks IMPORTANT Firm resistance should be noticeable at the brake pedal.  
INSPECT Check     
12 Check fluid level in brake fluid reservoir, and correct if necessary    
REFER TO MAINTENANCE     AP42.10-P-4210V 
13 Carry out brake test on the test stand
