Remove/install hydraulic line of power steering - AR46.25-P-3015SXH

MODEL 216, 221 with electrohydraulic power steering (EHPS)

REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of death  caused by vehicle slipping or toppling off of the lifting platform. Align vehicle between columns of vehicle lift and position four support plates at vehicle lift support points specified by vehicle manufacturer. AS00.00-Z-0010-01A
DANGER Risk of injury  to skin or eyes caused by hydraulic fluid spraying out under high pressure. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing hydraulic fluid Depressurize the hydraulic system completely before starting any work on the system. Wear protective clothing and safety glasses. AS00.00-Z-0013-01A
    NOTES Before opening the hydraulic system the area surrounding the separation point should be cleaned thoroughly. Even the smallest dirt particles, introduced into the hydraulic components, can lead to malfunctions and a total failure of the hydraulic system.  
1 Open engine hood    
2 Suction off oil from expansion reservoir (12) SPECIAL TOOL Figure
3 Remove the front and central sections of the lower engine compartment paneling   AR61.20-P-1105SX
  Remove pressure line D1 (1)     
4 Remove wheelhouse trim in right front fender and release electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1)   AR46.30-P-0500SXH
5 Detach pressure line D1 (1) from electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.30-P-1016-01F 
6 Detach pressure line D1 (1) from pressure line D2 (2) at connecting point (14) and remove pressure line D1 (1) NOTES Slide tool in and with chamfered area into the connecting point (14) up to end stop, to avoid damage to the rubber boot.
IMPORTANT Collect oil which runs out and seal connections immediately.

  Remove pressure line D2 (2)     
7 Attach engine hoist and raise engine NOTES Make sure when lifting out engine that no cables and lines are damaged and that engine does not hit against partition wall. AR33.10-P-0105SX
8 Remove bolts for engine mount at front axle carrier TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA22.10-P-1001-03C 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA22.10-P-1001-03D 
9 Remove bolt (15) and pull pressure line D2 (2) and return line R1 (6) out of control head of rack-and-pinion steering (11) IMPORTANT Collect oil which runs out and seal connections immediately.

TORQUE SPECIFICATION *BA46.20-P-1003-01M 
10 Detach holder (3, 4, 5) of pressure line D2 (2) from rack-and-pinion steering (11) and front axle carrier    
11 Unclip coolant line from lower holder on alternator    
12 Detach pressure line D1 (1) from pressure line D2 (2) at connecting point (14) and remove pressure line D2 (2) NOTES Slide tool in and with chamfered area into the connecting point (14) up to end stop, to avoid damage to the rubber boot.
IMPORTANT Collect oil which runs out and seal connections immediately.

  Remove return line R1 (6)     
13 Detach heat shield on left longitudinal member from front axle carrier and remove    
14 Detach holder (7, 8, 9, 10) of return line R1 (6) from front axle carrier    
15 Remove bolt (15) and pull pressure line D2 (2) and return line R1 (6) out of control head of rack-and-pinion steering (11) IMPORTANT Collect oil which runs out and seal connections immediately.

16 Detach return line R1 (6) from expansion reservoir (12) and remove return line (6) downwards IMPORTANT Collect oil which runs out and seal connections immediately.

  Remove feed line Z1 (13)     
17 Remove wheelhouse trim in right front fender, electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) and fold outwards   AR46.30-P-0500SXH
18 Detach feed line Z1 (13) from expansion reservoir (12)   AR46.25-P-1000SXH 
19 Detach feed line Z1 (13) from electrohydraulic power steering (A91/1) and remove downwards    
20 Install in the reverse order    
21 Fill power steering pump and bleed   AR46.30-P-0010SX
INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.
Do not touch hot or rotating parts.

22 Test run engine and check that steering system is not leaking and is functioning correctly
