MODIFICATION NOTES

13.4.10 Value modified: Bolt, cylinder head cover to cylinder head   *BA01.20-P-1001-01P 
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
DANGER Risk of explosion  caused by ignition of flammable products, risk of poisoning  caused by inhaling fuel vapors or swallowing fuel as well as risk of injury  to skin and eyes exposed to fuel. No fire, sparks, open flames or smoking.
Only pour fuels into suitable and appropriately marked containers.
Wear protective clothing when handling fuel.

DANGER Risk of explosion  from fuel igniting. Risk of injury  to skin and eyes caused by fuel spraying out at high pressure. Keep all ignition sources out of hazard area.
Do not carry out any work on system when it is pressurized.

DANGER Risk of accident  caused by vehicle starting off by itself when engine is running. Risk of injury  caused by contusions and burns during starting procedure or when working near the engine as it is running Secure vehicle to prevent it from moving by itself.
Wear closed and snug-fitting work clothes.

1 Remove engine intake air duct downstream of air filter   AR09.10-P-8130SXI
2 Remove engine charge air duct on turbocharger   AR09.41-P-8622SXI
3 Remove exhaust gas recirculation positioner   AR14.20-P-1020SXI
4 Remove injectors   AR07.16-P-1000SXI
5 Remove rail   AR07.03-P-1010SXI
6.1 Unscrew power steering pump expansion reservoir apart from with Active Body Control (ABC)
IMPORTANT On left cylinder head cover.

7 Detach fuel line (1) IMPORTANT On left cylinder head cover.
IMPORTANT The fuel line (1) is to be removed with flexible feed and return hose so that power steering pump reservoir can be placed aside.
 
8 Loosen oil dipstick guide tube (3) IMPORTANT On left cylinder head cover.
IMPORTANT Loosen oil dipstick guide tube (3) at the top and bottom. A small amount of oil may flow out, this should be caught.
 
TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt for dipstick guide tube *BA18.40-P-1001-01M 
9 Loosen cylinder head cover bolts in stages; remove IMPORTANT On left cylinder head cover.
NOTES Loosen cylinder head cover bolts in reverse order of the tightening procedure on a cooled off engine so that the cylinder head cover does not shift, see:

INSTALLATION NOTES Observe tightening procedure and tightening instructions for cylinder head cover bolts so that the cylinder head cover does not shift and lead to damage to the camshaft, see:

TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt connecting cylinder head cover to cylinder head *BA01.20-P-1001-01P 
10 Remove left cylinder head cover IMPORTANT Detach left cylinder head cover with impact extractor and threaded stud, then remove.

    Loctite sealant 5970 *BR00.45-Z-1013-01A 
11 Remove connecting pipe to coolant expansion reservoir    
12 Remove connection fitting for oil separator (5) IMPORTANT On right cylinder head cover.
INSTALLATION IMPORTANT Replace O-ring and radial shaft sealing ring.
 
13 Detach electrical connector from the camshaft Hall sensor (B6/1) IMPORTANT On right cylinder head cover.  
14 Loosen cylinder head cover bolts in stages; remove IMPORTANT On right cylinder head cover.
NOTES Loosen cylinder head cover bolts in reverse order of the tightening procedure on a cooled off engine so that the cylinder head cover does not shift, see:

TORQUE SPECIFICATION Bolt connecting cylinder head cover to cylinder head *BA01.20-P-1001-01P 
15 Remove right cylinder head cover IMPORTANT Detach cylinder head cover using impact extractor and threaded studs, then remove.

    Loctite sealant 5970 *BR00.45-Z-1013-01A 
CLEAN Clean     
16 Clean sealing surface on cylinder head covers and cylinder heads NOTES Do not use any sharp-edged tools or abrasive paper as this will damage the sealing surfaces. AR01.00-P-0050-01A
Loctite 7200 *BR00.45-Z-1038-04A 
Cleaning spray, Loctite 7063 (150ml) *BR00.45-Z-1046-04A 
17 Install in the reverse order    
INSPECT Checking     
18 Check engine oil level NOTES In order to avoid measurement errors, vehicle must be parked on an even surface.
IMPORTANT Inspect engine oil level about 5 min. after switching off warm engine

19 Check for oil leaks with engine running    
20 Check fuel system for leaks with engine running
