INSPECT Check
DANGER Injury hazard from pinching and crushing, in extreme cases extremities can even be cut off when caught in windshield wiper mechanism. Always remove ignition key when working on windshield wiper mechanism. AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
1 Switch off ignition and remove the transmitter key from the EIS [EZS] control unit IMPORTANT On vehicles with CODE 889 (Keyless-Go): Press Keyless-Go start and stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off. Remove transmitter key from vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).
2 Check wiper blades for wear and damage, replace if necessary NOTES
Make sure when working on lifted wiper arms that they do not fall onto the windshield. The windshield will otherwise be damaged.

3 Check position of wiper arms in parked position using marks (arrow C) at windshield IMPORTANT The wiper blade ends must lie on the markings (arrow C) and may not be offset by more than 10 mm upwards or downwards.
IMPORTANT The distance from the outer marking to the A-pillar (A) is approx. 60 mm, the distance from the inner marking to the A-pillar (B) is approx. 510 mm.
IMPORTANT Excessive deviations may be caused by a damaged wiper linkage, incorrect positioning of the wiper arms on the linkage pins, or bent wiper arms.
If damage is present:

Replace wiper system.

AR82.30-P-6400GZ
Replace wiper arm.
AR82.30-P-6100GZ
4 Move wiper system from parked position IMPORTANT Switch on ignition and windshield wipers. If wiper arms are near reversing position, switch off ignition and windshield wiper.
IMPORTANT On vehicles with CODE 889 (Keyless-Go): Press Keyless-Go start and stop button repeatedly until ignition is switched off. Remove transmitter key from vehicle and store it in a location beyond its transmission range (at least 2 m).

5 Position the driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2) by hand in the reversing position IMPORTANT The reversing position of the driver-side wiper arm (1) corresponds to the distance between driver-side wiper blade and A-pillar (D) of approx. 30 mm.
The reversing position of the passenger-side wiper arm (2) corresponds to the distance between passenger-side wiper blade to A-pillar (E) of approx. 460 mm.

6 Remove wiper blades IMPORTANT Do not adjust the driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2).
7 Clean wiper blade fixtures on driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2) using a clean cloth
MEASURING Measure
8 Measure angle of incidence of wiper arms to windshield, record this and compare test value with adjustment value MODEL 164, 166 AR82.30-P-6000-01GZ
IMPORTANT Notes on wiper arm adjustment AH82.30-P-0001-01GZ
NOTES
When changing from reversing position to parked position, make sure that driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2) do not make direct contact with windshield. Otherwise this will be scratched.
IMPORTANT Cover driver-side wiper arm (1) and passenger-side wiper arm (2) with appropriate means (scratch protection).
IMPORTANT Compare check values with adjustment values and select correct adjustment measure.
