The transmission oil level should only be checked at a transmission oil temperature of 45 °C (113 °F). It is essential to observe all of the transmission oil temperatures specified below. Otherwise malfunctions and transmission damage can occur. |
Heat up transmission oil to 90 °C (194 °F) | After opening oil circuit.
Allow transmission oil to heat up or cool down to 45 1/2C (113 1/2F). | If transmission oil temperature is too low: ↓ Leave the automatic transmission at selector lever position "P" and keep the engine speed at 2500 RPM. If transmission oil temperature is too high: ↓ Switch off engine.
Check transmission oil temperature with engine switched off | If transmission oil temperature is not 45 °C (113 °F). ↓ Allow transmission oil to heat up or cool down.

Allow constant stream of oil (arrow a) to drain until only a trickling stream of oil (arrow b) escapes. | Leave the engine running at idle speed and do not exceed the transmission oil temperature. Otherwise too much transmission oil will be drained off, and malfunctions and transmission damage can occur. If the oil jet (arrow a) initially discharged is not constant, but rather a trickling oil jet (arrow b): ↓ Repeat procedure starting with operation step 11.
