InCar Hotspot, general
The InCar Hotspot function makes it possible to use the Internet wirelessly in the vehicle using mobile terminals; this is achieved using the Internet router control unit.
The Internet router control unit exchanges information with the mobile terminals via a radio interface as the Wireless Access Point (WAP), and routes the signals to the Internet.
The Internet router control unit performs the following individual functions:
- Function sequence, connect mobile terminal and set up Internet connection
- Function sequence, transmit and receive radio signals on the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
- Function sequence, transmit and receive Internet signals via the telephone antenna
- Function sequence, display, modify and reset system settings
- Function sequence, status indication via LED
- Function sequence, software updates
- Function sequence, run-on time
Function sequence, connect mobile terminal and set up Internet connection
In order to connect the mobile terminal, the user must search for networks (Wireless Local Area Network) on the mobile terminal and select the "InCar Hotspot" network. After entering the Wireless Access Point (WAP) number (specified in the "InCar Hotspot" owner's manual) the mobile terminal is a subscriber of the Wireless Local Area Network.
In order to set up the connection to the Internet, the user enters the following address in the address line of the Internet browser:
As soon as the Personal Identification Number (PIN) of the SIM card in the Internet router control unit has been entered on the home screen and the mobile radio provider has been selected, the Internet connection can be used. Display and operation take place on the mobile terminal.
Up to 8 devices can be connected simultaneously.
Function sequence, transmit and receive radio signals on the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN)
The Internet router control unit communicates with the mobile terminals via an integrated radio interface for the Wireless Local Area Network.
Function sequence, transmit and receive Internet signals via the telephone antenna
The Internet router control unit transmits signals to the Internet via the following route:
- Telephone and Internet antenna splitter (with code (386) Comfort telephony)
- Telephone antenna
(The signals are received via the opposite route.)
Function sequence, display, modify and reset system settings
The system settings can be examined and modified on the home screen. The "Overview" tab gives you an overview of the Wireless Local Area Network and Internet settings. The settings can be modified in the "Settings" tab, for which a password must be entered. The initial password is "admin" and should be changed by the user. Display and operation take place on the mobile terminal.
Detailed information about the settings can be found in the "InCar Hotspot" owner's manual.
Resetting takes place on the Internet router control unit itself. If the button in the narrow opening above code letter "F" is pressed with a suitable object (such as a paper clip) for approx. 2 s, the Internet router control unit is reset to the manufacturer default settings.
If the button above "H" is pressed in the same way, the Internet router control unit is restarted and all settings are retained.
