Additional video or audio devices can be connected to the rear entertainment system via the AUX jack of each respective display or via the AUX jack of the DVD player.
These may be portable DVD players, video cameras, MP3 players or games consoles, for example. No device-specific user interface is prepared by the left rear display, right rear display or DVD player in the "AUX" menu item for these video or audio devices.
The video or audio devices are operated using the video or audio device itself.
The video or audio device is detected automatically. Depending on whether a unit with video or audio output is detected, the associated screen is displayed in the "AUX" menu item of the active display.
If a video or audio unit is connected to the AUX jack of the left rear display, the associated screen is displayed in the "AUX" menu item on the activated left rear display.
If a video or audio unit is connected to the AUX jack of the right rear display, the associated screen is displayed in the "AUX" menu item on the activated right rear display.

Video unit detected function sequence
The left rear display, right rear display or DVD player automatically detects that a video unit has been connected via the respective AUX jack.
Based on the data transferred by the video unit, the left rear display generates the analog or digital audio signals and the digital picture signals for the user interface of the "AUX" menu item on the screen of the left rear display.
Based on the data transferred by the video unit, the right rear display generates the analog or digital audio signals and the digital picture signals for the user interface of the "AUX" menu item on the screen of the right rear display.
The DVD player generates the analog audio and picture signals for the user interface of the "AUX" menu item on the screen of the respective display based on data transferred by the video unit.
The menus and submenus of the "AUX" menu item are displayed for the rear passenger(s) on the screen of the respective display (see operating instructions).
The rear passenger(s) can now perform additional control operations or settings using the above-specified controls on the remote control (see Operating instructions).
The signals from the above-specified controls on the remote control are transferred via the infrared (IR) interface on the remote control to the respective display.
Audio unit detected function sequence
The left rear display, right rear display or DVD player automatically detects that an audio unit has been connected via the respective AUX jack.
Based on the data transferred by the audio unit, the left rear display generates the analog or digital audio signals and the digital picture signals for the user interface of the "AUX" menu item on the screen of the left rear display.
Based on the data transferred by the audio unit, the right rear display generates the analog or digital audio signals and the digital picture signals for the user interface of the "AUX" menu item on the screen of the right rear display.
The DVD player generates the analog audio and picture signals for the user interface of the "AUX" menu item on the screen of the respective display based on data transferred by the audio unit.
The menus and submenus of the "AUX" menu item are displayed for the rear passenger(s) on the screen of the respective display (see operating instructions).
The rear passenger(s) can now perform additional control operations or settings using the above-specified controls on the remote control (see Operating instructions).
The signals from the above-specified controls on the remote control are transferred via the IR interface on the remote control to the respective display.
Transmission of audio and picture signals function sequence
Upon reception of analog picture signals from the following AUX jacks via the relevant path, the respective display generates the digital picture signals for the associated screen on the respective display:
- COMAND video or COMAND audio (COMAND operating, display and controller unit), with code (528) COMAND with DVD changer or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer):
- COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Y/C line
- DVD player
- Y/C line
- Display AUX (AUX jack of left rear display or AUX jack of right rear display):
- Direct lines
- Drive AUX (AUX jack of DVD player):
- DVD player
- Y/C line
The generated digital picture signals are output on the screen of the respective display.
Upon reception of analog audio signals from the following AUX jacks via the relevant path, the respective display generates the digital audio signals:
- COMAND video or COMAND audio (COMAND operating, display and controller unit), with code (528) COMAND with DVD changer or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer):
- COMAND operating, display and controller unit
- Stereo line
- DVD player
- Stereo line
- Display AUX (AUX jack of left rear display or AUX jack of right rear display):
- Direct lines
- Drive AUX (AUX jack of DVD player):
- DVD player
- Stereo line
These digital audio signals are transferred via the IR interface of the respective display and the IR interface of the connected headphones to these headphones (cordless).
Volume can only be adjusted via the volume control integrated in the respective headphones.
When headphones (cable-connected) are connected via the headphone jacks integrated in the respective displays, the analog audio signals are transferred to the headphones via the headphone cable by the respective display. The volume is adjusted via the "Volume +/-" control on the remote control. Additionally, the preset volume can be regulated via the volume control of the particular headphones. The signals from the "Volume +/-" control on the remote control are transferred via the IR interface on the remote control to the respective display.
