The DVD player is located behind a flap below the rear control panel control unit in the center console.

Central control unit for rear entertainment system

The DVD player is used for the following applications:

Allow usage of all audio/video units or video sources installed on and in DVD player

The following connection or playback options are available for the associated audio or video units or sources:

COMAND video or COMAND audio (COMAND operating, display and controller unit (A40/3)), with code (528) COMAND with DVD changer or with code (512) COMAND APS with DVD changer

CAN

The DVD player is a subscriber to the interior CAN and telematics CAN. The DVD player communicates with the EZS control unit (N73) via the interior CAN.

The DVD player communicates with the following components via the telematics CAN:

Left rear display (A40/5)
Right rear display (A40/6)

CAN

A DVD drive (single slot) is also integrated into the unit.

Function

DVD drive (single slot)

The DVD drive of the DVD player is a single slot drive. As well as DVD video and audio media, it can also play CD audio media and MP3 files. It can also play media protected by popular copy protection systems and recorded blanks (CD R/RW; DVD R/+R/RW).

The DVD drive has a "DVD Disk Auto Detect" function.
