Function requirements general
- Circuit 15 ON or Circuit 15R ON
- Function in instrument cluster (A1) enabled
- Right outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s11) selected
- Reverse gear engaged
- Position measurement supplies valid readings
- Vehicle speed v < 10 km/h
The electronic ignition lock control unit (N73) transmits the circuit status 15 via the interior CAN (CAN B) and chassis CAN (CAN E).
Passenger-side outside mirror park position general
It is possible to save a park position for the passenger side rear view mirror to which it is then moved electrically when the car is shifted into reverse, allowing the driver to see the curb.
The passenger side outside mirror park position comprises the following park positions:
- Actuate park position function sequence
- Store park position function sequence
- Function sequence for move to drive position
Actuate park position function sequence
When the transmission is shifted into reverse for t & gt; 0.6 s the right front door control unit (N69/2) adjusts the right mirror glass to the park position using the vertical inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/2m1) and horizontal inclination adjustment actuator motor (M21/2m2).
On model 204.9, the park position is actuated even when the reversing camera (code (218) reversing camera) is active.
The passenger side outside mirror park position function can be activated and deactivated over a menu in the instrument cluster via the left multifunction steering wheel button group (S110) and right multifunction steering wheel button group (S111). The request is read in by the steering wheel electronics (N135) and sent over the steering LIN (LIN E1) to the steering column tube module control unit (N80). The steering column tube module control unit forwards the request to the instrument via the chassis CAN.
The status "Reverse gear engaged" is defined as follows depending on the transmission version:
Transmission 711 or 716:
The status backup lamp switch (S16/2) is read in directly by the front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1).
Transmission 722:
The request to "Engage gear range R" is defined by the corresponding selector lever position. The electronic selector lever control unit (N15/5) transmits the status of the current selector lever position to the front SAM control unit via the drive CAN (CAN C), CDI control unit (N3/9) (on diesel engine) or ME-SFI control unit (N3/10) (on gasoline engine) and chassis CAN.
Located in the front SAM control unit are two microprocessors, one for control of basic functions e.g. the exterior lights, and the second for control of the central gateway functions. Both processors communicate with one another internally via interior CAN.
Using all incoming information, the microprocessor which controls the central gateway functions generates the "reverse gear engaged" signal irrespective of the transmission variant and sends this signal to the reversing camera control unit via the interior CAN.
Store park position function sequence
First adjust described park position of right outside mirror manually via the right outside mirror adjustment switch.
The park position can be stored with the left seat adjustment switch group (S22).
After momentarily pressing the memory switch (S22s6) and then actuating the right outside mirror adjustment switch in any direction within t = 3s, the momentary outside mirror position is stored as the park position in the right front door control unit.
A manual adjustment of the right outside mirror in the park position is stored as a new park position.
Function sequence for move to drive position
The right outside mirror is automatically returned to the drive position under the following conditions:
- Forward gear engaged and a time of approx. t = 10 s elapsed
- Vehicle speed v & gt; 10 km/h
- Left outside mirror adjustment switch (S20s10) actuated
- Circuit 15 OFF
The drive position is resumed, even when the right outside mirror has been moved to the park position manually. If reverse gear is recognized with circuit 15 ON, the mirror moves to the park position after t = 0.6 s.
