Windshield wipers, windshield washer system and headlamp cleaning system - function check - AP82.30-P-8252CW

INSPECT Checking     
DANGER Risk of fire and explosion  caused by ignition of window washing fluid or antifreeze and their vapors. Risk of poisoning  caused by swallowing window washing fluid or antifreeze or inhaling their vapors. Risk of injury  or physical irritations caused by contact of window washing fluid or antifreeze with eyes, mucous membranes or skin. Wear protective clothing and tight fitting safety glasses. No fire, open light or ignition sources. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes and skin. When working with window washing fluids or antifreeze, do not eat, drink, or smoke. Do not inhale vapors and ensure sufficient ventilation in the working area. Store window washing fluid and antifreeze leakfree in safely closed original containers and out of children's reach only. AS82.35-Z-0001-01A
DANGER Risk of injury caused by moving parts that can pinch, crush or, in extreme cases even sever extremities.  Always remove ignition key when working on windshield wiper mechanism. AS82.30-Z-0001-01A
1 Close liftgate Model 204.2/9  
2 Close engine hoods, doors and side windows    
3.1 Switch on ignition IMPORTANT Vehicles with halogen headlamps and without code (600) Headlamp cleaning system  
3.2 Start engine IMPORTANT Vehicles with xenon headlamps or with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system  
4 Switch on low beam at exterior lights switch (S1) IMPORTANT Vehicles with xenon headlamps or with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system  
5 Operate windshield washer system switch (S4s4) beyond the over-center preload in the direction of the arrow and check for proper operation as well as adjustment of the spray nozzles of the headlamp cleaning system IMPORTANT Vehicles with xenon headlamps or with code (600) Headlamp cleaning system
IMPORTANT Clean blocked spray nozzles from outside with suitable needle and compressed air.
IMPORTANT The spray jet has to hit the headlamp cover in the area of the lamps; correct setting if necessary.
IMPORTANT Before checking the headlamp cleaning system again, switch off the engine and start it again.
 
6 Press windshield washer system switch (S4s4) beyond the actuation point in the direction of the arrow and check the function and setting for the spray nozzles on the windshield washer system IMPORTANT Clean blocked spray nozzles from outside with suitable needle and compressed air.
IMPORTANT Correct adjustment if necessary:

Model 204.0/2 as of 01.08.2008, Model 204.3/9 AP82.35-P-8252-01CWX

7 Actuate rear window washer system and check function of spray nozzle Model 204.2/9
IMPORTANT Clean blocked spray nozzle from outside with suitable needle and compressed air.
 
8 Switch on windshield wiper and check setting of wiper arms NOTES The wiper blades must not come into contact with the A-pillar or the cowl, otherwise the body or the wiper mechanism will be damaged. In the event of a complaint check the wiper blades and wiper arms for deformation and replace if necessary.  
9 Switch on rear window wiper and check setting of wiper arm Model 204.2/9
NOTES The wiper blade must not make contact with the liftgate, otherwise the body or wiper arm mechanism may be damaged. In the event of a complaint check the wiper blade and wiper arm for deformation, and replace if necessary.
 
10 Switch off windshield wiper, low beam and ignition    
11 Correct the fluid level in the windshield washer system reservoir   AP82.35-P-8210CW
