Remove/install headliner - AR68.30-P-4300CW

MODIFICATION NOTES

4.12.08 Remove left side paneling in rear, added Step 15
Remove right side paneling in rear, added Step 17
REMOVINGINSTALLING Remove/install     
1.1 Open panoramic sliding roof For vehicles with code (413) panoramic sliding roof.  
1.2 Open tilting/sliding roof On vehicles with code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof.  
2 Move selector lever or gearshift lever to rearmost position IMPORTANT Depending on vehicle configuration.  
3 Remove cover (2)    
4 Remove inside rearview mirror (A67)    
5 Remove overhead control panel control unit (N70) or overhead control panel electronics (N70/3) IMPORTANT Depending on vehicle configuration. AR82.20-P-1000CW
6 Disconnect electrical connector (3) from rain/light sensor (B38/2) or light sensor IMPORTANT Depending on vehicle configuration.  
7 Remove inside rearview mirror bracket (14)    
8 Remove both sun visors (4) with counterbearing.    
9 Remove all handles (5) from roof    
10 Remove bottom paneling (7) and top paneling (8) from right B-pillar IMPORTANT Lay top paneling (8) down to side with belt end fitting attached.  
11 Detach bottom paneling (7) on left B-pillar so that top paneling (8) can be removed IMPORTANT Lay top paneling (8) down to side with belt end fitting attached. Remove bottom paneling (7) only when extending headliner (1).  
12 Remove left and right C-pillar paneling (9) IMPORTANT Lay C-pillar paneling (9) down to side with belt end fitting attached. AR68.30-P-4490CW 
13 Completely remove edge guard (10) from right rear door cutout    
14 Detach remaining edge guards (10) in area of headliner (1)    
15 Remove left side paneling (11) in rear On vehicles with code (359) TELE AID emergency system or vehicles up to 5.2.08 with code (810) Sound system. AR68.30-P-4780CW 
16 Expose electrical wiring harness (17) and disconnect electrical connector (12) On vehicles with code (359) TELE AID emergency system or vehicles up to 5.2.08 with code (810) Sound system.  
17 Remove right side paneling (11) in rear On vehicles with code (882) Interior monitoring (only with ATA) or code (220) Parktronic system (PTS). AR68.30-P-4780CW 
18 Expose electrical wiring harness (18) and disconnect electrical connector (13) On vehicles with code (882) Interior monitoring (only with ATA) or code (220) Parktronic system (PTS).  
19 Move passenger seat toward rear and backrest downward to achieve maximum clearance (arrows) IMPORTANT This clearance (arrows) is required to remove the headliner (1) from the vehicle through the right rear door cutout.  
20 Detach headliner (1) on Velcro strips (15) from headliner    
21 Unhook headliner (1) from sliding roof frame or panoramic roof frame On vehicles with code (413) Panorama sliding roof or code (414) Electric glass tilting/sliding roof.  
22 Slide headliner (1) toward rear until hooks (16) disengage from mounts on roof paneling. Then lay headliner (1) down on seats IMPORTANTInstallation:  Position headliner (1) below A-pillar panelings (6) when moving forward.  
23 Arch headliner (1) at front and rear with aid of helper, then align headliner (1) in vehicle so that headliner (1) can be moved out of rear door cutout toward rear. Always keep headliner (1) arched. Then move arched headliner (1) toward rear out of right rear door cutout. Use clearance (arrows) to move out headliner (1) NOTES Do not arch headliner (1) excessively and when moving out, ensure that the edge areas of the headliner (1) are not kinked or graze against the adjacent components. Otherwise the headliner (1) can be damaged.  
24 Install in the reverse order
