Locking/unlocking vehicle with inside switch, function - GF80.20-P-3009CE
MODEL 204.0/2 as of model year 2009/YoM 08
MODEL 204.3
MODEL 204.9
Function requirements, general
- Vehicle must not be locked from outside with transmitter key (A8/1)
Locking/unlocking vehicle with inside switch, general
The central locking (CL) can be operated with the left front door central locking interior actuation switch (S85/5) and right front door central locking interior actuation switch (S85/6).
The locking/unlocking vehicle with interior switch function comprises the following partial functions:
- Function sequence for locking or unlocking CL
- Function sequence for unlocking trunk lid (model 204.0/3) or liftgate (model 204.2/9 with code (890) EASY-PACK liftgate) (opening)
Function sequence for locking or unlocking CL
Actuation of the left front door central locking interior actuation switch is read in by the left front door control unit (N69/1), actuation of the right front door central locking interior actuation switch is read in by the right front door control unit (N69/2) and is relayed to the electronic ignition switch control unit (N73) via the interior CAN.
The electronic ignition switch control unit transmits the request to the following control unit via the interior CAN:
- Left front door control unit
- Right front door control unit
- Front SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/1) (up to 30.11.09)
- Left rear door control unit (N69/3) (on model 204.0/2/9 as of 1.12.09)
- Right rear door control unit (N69/4) (on model 204.0/2/9 as of 1.12.09)
- Rear SAM control unit with fuse and relay module (N10/2)
The left front door control unit locks or unlocks the left front door lock (A85) via the left front door central locking motor (A85m1). The right front door control unit locks or unlocks the right front door lock (A85/1) via the right front door central locking motor (A85/1m1)
Vehicles up to 30.11.09:
The front SAM control unit locks or unlocks the left rear door lock (A85/3) over the left rear door central locking motor (A85/3m1) and the right rear door lock (A85/4) over the right rear door central locking motor (A85/4m1).
Model 204.0/2/9 as of 1.12.09:
The left rear door control unit locks or unlocks the left rear door lock over the left rear door central locking motor.
The right rear door control unit locks or unlocks the right rear door lock over the right rear door central locking motor.
Opening the trunk lid or liftgate via the trunk lid external operation switch (S88/8) (model 204.0/3) or via the liftgate external operation switch (S88/8) (model 204.2/9) is enabled or disabled by the rear SAM control unit corresponding to the request.
When locking via the inside door handle switch for central locking the tank cap remains unlocked.
The locking functions are enabled depending on the door status.
- Driver door open:
- All doors except the driver door and the trunk lid or the liftgate are locked.
- Passenger door open:
- Locking with the left front door central locking interior actuation switch is inhibited
Opening a door from the inside when the CL is locked:
Basically each door can be opened from the inside (except on model 204.0/2 3 for Great Britain with active additional door lock or when the mechanical child safety lock on the front door (on model 204.0/2/9 without code (494) USA version) is activated). The corresponding door is opened mechanically.
If the vehicle was unlocked globally before locking, the CL is actuated centrally.
National version:
On model 204.0/2 for Great Britain, the left front rear door lock is actuated by the left rear door control unit and the right front rear door lock is actuated by the right rear door control unit. The rear door control units are also supplied with power by the left rear door control unit fuse carrier (F64/1) and right rear door control unit fuse carrier (F64/2).
Additional function requirements for unlocking trunk lid (model 204.0/3) or liftgate (model 204.2/9 with code (890) EASY-PACK liftgate) (opening)
- Speed v < 3 km/h
Function sequence for unlocking trunk lid (model 204.0/3) or liftgate (model 204.2/9 with code (890) EASY-PACK liftgate) (opening)
The partial function unlocking trunk lid or liftgate (open) comprises the following subfunctions:
- D Function sequence for opening via trunk lid release button (S15/1) (model 204.0/3) o trunk lid button/driver liftgate control (S15/3) (model 204.2/9 with code (890) EASY-PACK liftgate)
- D Function sequence of unlocking via the trunk lid emergency opening switch (S88/10) (model 204 0/3 with code (494) USA version)
Function sequence for opening via trunk lid release button (model 204.0/3) o trunk lid button/driver liftgate control (model 204.2/9 with code (890) EASY-PACK liftgate)
Actuation of the trunk lid release button or trunk lid button/driver liftgate control for t ≥ 0.5 s, is read in directly by the left front door control unit.
The left front door control unit transmits the corresponding status to the rear SAM control unit via the interior CAN.
On model 204.0/3 the rear SAM control unit unlocks the trunk lid rotary tumbler via the trunk lid central locking motor (M14/7). The trunk lid is then opened up to the upper stop by spring force.
On model 204.2/9, the liftgate rotary tumbler is unlocked by the liftgate central locking motor (M14/7). The liftgate is then opened automatically.
Detailed information on liftgate control is given in the separate document "Rear door remote actuation, function".
Function sequence of unlocking via trunk lid emergency unlocking switch (model 204 0/3 with code (494) USA version)
This function is always activated (regardless of the CL status), because it allows the trunk lid to be opened by a person trapped in the trunk.
The truck lid emergency opening switch is located in the lining on the right side of the trunk. The status of the trunk lid emergency opening switch is read in directly by the rear SAM control unit.
When the trunk lid emergency opening switch is actuated, the rear SAM control unit actuates the trunk lid central locking motor to unlock the rotary tumbler. The trunk lid is then opened mechanically by spring force as far as the upper stop.
